cdn.cruiser Posted March 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2019 Has anyone done the Greek islands in mid November to late November? is it too cold,to enjoy? Thanks in advance for your comments.
Paulchili Posted March 13, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2019 (edited) Not as cold as Edmonton in November It’s not warm enough to swim but pleasant enough. Rain and possibly rough seas might be your biggest worry. On the plus side, you’ll avoid the crowds. I think late Sept/early Oct is the best time in the Fall for the Med. Flatbush Flyer Posted March 13, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2019 Just booked a 2 segment cruise on Nautica in November 2020 with first part Athens to Athens-mostly islands. Best cabins going fast. We were there last Easter (2018). At least, this time we'll avoid the crowds and enjoy autumn there.
LesSails80435 Posted March 13, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2019 We sailed Riviera Athens to Miami starting last Oct. 24, not quite November; while some days were brisk, others (lucky for us Santorini) were perfectly lovely and mid-70s. You will find the lack of crowds very nice, but the seas likely a little rougher; we missed Rhodes altogether--partly a medical emergency and also rough weather. One caution: we did find that more than a few shops were closed for the season in some locations, if that's important to you. But I'm grateful we weren't there mid-summer, as we heard horror stories about the stifling heat they had last year.
Cruise Junky Posted March 13, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2019 I was going to mention the closures. There's a village we love on Crete that I know most of the touristy shops and restaurants close around November 1st. Larger cities though you won't notice as much. Rare pinotlover Posted March 13, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2019 How lucky do you feel? If you try an actual site that provides actual historical weather data, as opposed to anecdotal remembrances here, you will find it to be a crap shoot particularly as you get later in the month. Some cruisers only only go to ride around on the ship and could care less where they are. Some go to see the ports. Since several of those ports are tenders those in the latter group would be most affected by iffy weather. What kind of cruiser are you?
