kitty-sail Posted April 11, 2020 #51 Share Posted April 11, 2020 Just checked to see if anything changed and noticed that description says private breakfast only. Looks like private lunch has been removed.
Uhleashyuh Posted April 12, 2020 #52 Share Posted April 12, 2020 So i booked a concierge penthouse for July 25th 2021. My NCL account no longer shows my cabin type on my summery. I noticed that the Concierge family Villa staterooms are now in the Haven category. Stateroom 14776 was concierge, now its Haven with a huge price jump. I tried to contact my PCC she hasn't called back yet..

Those are fabulous rooms for so many reasons. Happy research, happy cruising, and remember to washy washy! Would you mind telling me what is the greatness of the CB or CC please? Have not sailed in these rooms. And do they compare favorably to suites? Thanks!

They do not have a butler and the concierge is not the same as the one for the Haven. The perks are now priority embark/debark, upgraded bedding, 2 free room service deliveries. If you are looking for suite that is the same as the smaller ships, this is not one of them. I know from my numerous inquiries that they are not the same. We booked a Family Suite, but upgraded to a Haven HH. It may have been classified at one time as one of those (CB or CC) but now it is a non-Haven Suite. Back in 2019 the "mini suite" just had larger bathroom, but these CB/CC rooms were actually much "longer" rooms, much more space... and a choice of a private restaurant for breakfast and lunch, which was very nice. The "concierge" that came along with it wasn't very valuable... This is an old thread, better to start one a new one.

Unfortunately, NCL took away a majority (the main ones) of the amenities of the non-Haven suites in late fall of 2021. There are a few threads on it.

Rare mking8288 Posted April 3, 2023 #61 Share Posted April 3, 2023 Most, nearly all of the Joy's 2 BR Family Inside Suites have been downgraded and/or discontinued since 2021 & early 2022. It is spacious and sleep at least 5, most sleep up to 6 with an upper bunk and the living room convertible sofa deployed - has 2 bath, 1 is a shower. Different layout depends mainly upon whether it's port side or starboard side - within its own interior corridor, avoid the ones next to the white space as that is the service area with carts, supplies & where room "attendants" work from/out of. We booked 2 of them for our last May cruise to Bermuda, pictures & discussion can be found in the Semi-Live link, below the signature. There're additional discussions about this last year into the Fall, expect less - refer to the current NCL description for what's still included. This is an "old" thread with very outdated info. Happy cruising.
gkbiiii Posted April 3, 2023 #62 Share Posted April 3, 2023 Thank you, I thought NCL was being innovative. For a long while, I thought Inside View Suites, could make a lot of money, in the "cheap area."

JamesIowa Posted April 4, 2023 #67 Share Posted April 4, 2023 Personally, I absolutely loved the concierge class on joy. The room, I’d say, was 90% of haven in terms of fit/finish. Room size, balcony all were terrific. I think the economics of having a “business class” offering is substantial and something I’d like to see more of. I want a nice room and a few perks. Why is there no option between steerage and 1st class? And don’t say club balcony. I typically sail solo in a balcony (or better), so my personal cruise economics may differ from others (solo supplement, etc). For me, solo, haven pricing doesn’t really get that attractive unless via upgrade bidding. Ex: think my average cabin price is around 2500+ tax let’s call it 3300 all-in. The lowest rung of haven for a 7 day, what, 6-7K+tax so that’s now 7-8k. My rule for haven (or most 1st/business, VIP upgrades) is that I’ll pull the trigger if it’s 2 to 2.5x more than regular. For solos, haven is typically 3-4x from what I’ve seen. why can’t I give NCL 5k for a business class experience? don’t need a butler. Concierge are nice at times. Don’t need ship-within-ship. I understand their reputation for nickel-and-diming, but damnit I want to give them dollars. Lots of dollars. That they don’t want? The economics do scale up when sailing with 2 vs. paying for 2 separate solo-supplement cabins. Haven 2 bedroom then becomes much more reasonable as it can fall within the “2-2.5x more” rule. I want a nice room and a few perks. Why is there no option between steerage and 1st class? You've basically answered your own question. By taking some of those concierge class staterooms and making them Haven staterooms, NCL makes more money by charging more. 1 hour ago, JamesIowa said: why can’t I give NCL 5k for a business class experience? Because someone else is willing to give NCL $7-8K for the same stateroom. Whether via bid or via direct sale, NCL manages to sell most Haven staterooms under normal (pre-Covid) conditions. The concierge class was mainly a left-over from when Joy was designed for the Asia market. NCL figured that those larger than normal staterooms should sell for a higher price. In order to get even more money, NCL made some of those staterooms Haven staterooms. The SC/SP staterooms are still nice and a bit larger than standard but non-Haven suite benefits aren't exactly great.
