long Island Posted March 30, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2019 In New York City, is there a special line for platinum members to board the ship?
vllygrrl Posted March 30, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2019 Look for a person with a sign before security and get in that line. Once you are through security look for the Platinum/Platinum +/Ambassador line for check in. After you are checked in you will be directed to a roped off waiting area. You will board after suite passengers and those with disabilities. Arrive early because the waiting area fills up quickly.
spanishguy1970 Posted March 30, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2019 well there is a special line for check in, at least that's the way it was when we were there, not sure if it has changed.

trex-de Posted March 30, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2019 We got stuck in traffic last June and arrived a bit later than we like at the pier. I’m thinking around 11 or 11:30. From security to first drink was no more than 10 minutes. This was our first time to embark in NY since becoming platinum. We bypassed the long lines we became accustomed to. A thing of beauty! Rare luv2kroooz Posted March 31, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 31, 2019 We've also had good experiences with platinum embark in NYC. The only time things got messed up was with a us coast guard inspection. Now, debark in NYC, can be quite a different experience.
tomk3212 Posted March 31, 2019 #7 Share Posted March 31, 2019 After you get through the TSA inspection you'll be shown to a different area where you'll check-in. You'll also receive a number that you'll carry with you; that determines your boarding order. The Haven & physically challenged folks board first & then Platinum/Platinum Plus. Also there are some slight differences depending on the ship itself. Breakaway-class ships take up the ENTIRE boarding area for a particular pier. Jewel-class ships (Gem, Jewel, Pearl, etc.) only take up half. That may have changed, however, as the last two times we sailed out of NYC it was on the Breakaway & she was the only NCL ship boarding that day. It also depends on how many NCL ships or others are departing that day. Also as "blcruising" points out it also depends on whether the USCG decides to do a full-blown ship inspection. That's happened to us once or twice & will delay boarding for EVERYONE for an hour or more. NCL will try & let you know in advance if it knows this is going to happen. Have a great cruise! So, let’s answer the question correctly. Yes, there is a platinum waiting area. Use the platinum lines at security and to check in. You will be given a Bording group 1 to 4. (Don’t accept any other boarding group). Take your 1-4 card to the seating area for admittance. They will lower the rope for you. The platinum seating area is in the middle of the terminal right next to the embarkation door. Today, they called platinums at 10:50 am.

NayRN Posted March 31, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 31, 2019 Is it safe to assume that Haven boarding will have a similar sign? It’s been a while since I’ve sailed out of Manhattan! Thanks!
BlueLadyBlue Posted March 31, 2019 #12 Share Posted March 31, 2019 Is this the same at the Brooklyn/Red Hook cruise terminal?
1smudslide Posted March 31, 2019 #13 Share Posted March 31, 2019 Thanks. I never know which line to get into. I was on the Sky, for the first time recently, and platinum boarded with those with disabilities, which surprised me

They do not use the general embarkation door.

Since NCL doesn't usually use that port who knows how they will have it set up. You would think it would be the same.
Rare BirdTravels Posted April 1, 2019 #17 Share Posted April 1, 2019 The Brooklyn terminal is great. We have sailed out of there several times on Cunard. Our balcony looked out straight at the Statue of Liberty.
Sand and Seas Posted April 1, 2019 #18 Share Posted April 1, 2019 The Miami port could use some more signs like you show for New York. It seems like most of the ports employees have no idea what Platinum is and where to direct us.
