It's fully explained on the Princess site. Limit of 15 alcoholic drinks per day (6AM - 6AM). No limit on coffee, specialty coffee, specialty tea, juice, or water. Water (including regular bottled water, Perrier, and San Pellegrino) can only be had in the smaller bottles.

Limit of drinks is $12 - before the auto gratuity (which is included in the price of the beverage package) which includes almost every drink on the ship. If you sail on a ship - such as Emerald Princess - that has the special Whiskey Adventure feature there are many items on that list above the allowed amount. This shouldn't be an issue as the bartenders know what is and what isn't allowed on the package. Most of the ships don't have that feature anyway. Bottles of wine can be purchased at a 25% discount. Don't forget to snag splits of champagne to take to the cabin for making your own Mimosas in the morning.

From Princess:

Premier Beverage Package

Our Premier Beverage Package is a great value! Enjoy a wide array of cocktails, wine, beer, bottled water, specialty coffee, smoothies, fountain sodas and more for just $59.99 USD^ per day ($70.79 per day with a 18% service charge included). There are also non-alcoholic and coffee packages available.

Thrak has done a great job explaining the Princess alcohol drink package.

As you know there is a $ limit on the Celebrity Premium package.  If you go over the limit you can pay the difference.  There is a long list of items that are over the limit.

With the Princess package, you cannot just pay the difference.  The cost of individual drinks are Princess are significantly less than the cost of individual drinks on Celebrity.  As a result there are very few drinks on Princess that are over the $12 limit.

The short answer is that it's hard to find anything above $12 at a Princess bar. Princess has much better prices on alcoholic beverages than most cruise lines.

I'm more of a gin guy than vodka, but most of the martinis I've had are around $10.

Just off Celebrity, and when I look at the Princess prices they are much more reasonable. The martini on the Classic package (drinks <$9) was very small...4 sips and you are done. The martini's from the martini bar were a little larger but came in a $15/$18. From what I can see on the drinks menu posted from Princess - martini's around $10+-. The Celebrity Classic drink package was $59 per day and Premium was $69 per day before gratuities.

There was a limit when we had the premium package on Celebrity. I forget what it was but we definitely couldn’t drink top end stuff ( champagne and the finest wines) without it costing extra.

This is going to come as a shock to Celebrity, who keeps saying it's a $15 max drink price.

Thanks.  Of course the wines and premium champagne had up charges I was only speaking of mixed drinks

Well my 5 friends and I really lucked out this past February on the Reflection then because we never paid a penny more for any mixed drink. Yeah for us

No it doesn't. There are very few things on Princess ships that exceed the limit. This is an OLD list I had compiled a while back. It's no longer totally accurate but, for the purpose of illustration, it will do nicely. At the time this list was made these were the only items not included under the package.

Chivas Royal Salute - $12.50
Remy Martin XO - $12.00
Mirabelle, Brut Rose - $11.00
Nicholas Feuillatte, Brut - $13.00
Veuve Clicquot, Brut - $17.00
Nebbiolo Valmaggiore, Bruno Giacosa - $12.00
Cabernet Sauvignon, Sanctuary - $13.00

Probably not very lucky. I would imagine there are precious few drinks that don’t qualify for the limit. Which exists.

The bartenders might have showed favor with you....and just mixed what you wanted. I've experienced that on different lines,...they sometimes say I'll give you the premium..

....with in reason of course....

It would depends on what is in it.  Several of the cocktails in the WCB are over the limit.  Of course there are a lot of wines, Scotches, etc.

There's definitely a price ceiling on the Premium package, but nothing in the WCB exceeded that ceiling (or, if it was supposed to the bartender never charged us and, as it was our favorite bar, we had a lot of drinks there).  I did have a couple of glasses of wine in the MDR that did exceed the ceiling and I was charged for them, but nothing in Murano did, even though I was fairly certain the prices listed on the menu should have resulted in a charge.

I think the bottom line is, there is a limit which is available on the website, and the venue determines how the pricing is enforced.
