Sorry to be extremely dense, but what is OceanConcierge and how do I get it. I have the medallion net downloaded as well as the others that don't seem to be integrated. I don't see anything APP store called OceanConcierge .... Medallion has been kind of odd. Earlier today Compass had me on the Regal (now corrected ) , and the Ocean Journeys is starting day 1 not as embarkation, but as the sea day before. my itinerary is fine though. Thanks for your help, I just couldn't find any details on the Princess website.

Adventures ahead Posted August 26, 2019 #933 Share Posted August 26, 2019 (edited) On 8/24/2019 at 7:37 PM, nusail said: I'm Ocean Ready but a Canadian resident so need to pick up my OM at the port in Vancouver. Can anyone who's been in that situation explain what embarkation will be like? Will being Ocean Ready make any difference if I don't already have the medallion? We recently boarded in Southampton on the Crown. Princess staff at check-in were greeting and re-directly people. We were Ocean Ready at home and, yes, it will speed up your embarkation. We were issued our medallions, given a boarding number, and told the medallions would begin to work as soon as we were within wifi distance of the ship. We arrived at about 11am and are Elite. There was no line and we walked right onboard. We noticed a waiting area with almost no one in it. We were travelling with another couple, both with iPhones, and went to the Internet cafe to get sorted out with a shortcut for logging in and out of our complimentary minutes. They showed us how to add Shipmates in Ocean Compass and access the Concierge app (that you don't need minutes for). No password needed, just your cabin number and birthdate. There was also a Medallion desk next to the photo area where staff could show you how to use the medallions onboard if you needed help. If not upgrading to the unlimited internet package, it's important to log out. The screen says/repeats something like 'Get online now' that you need to tap again to get to the next screen where you actually Log Off! We really liked the convenience of the medallions and weren't concerned about privacy. In fact, the cabin steward can tell if you're in your cabin making their job easier and fewer interruptions for you. You can still use a Do Not Disturb/Make up my room sign if you wish. After we both authorized Shipmates by cabin number and name, we could tell if our travelling companions were still at breakfast, back in their cabin or already at a meeting point that saved a lot time and running around. Without smart phones, we could have located them from a screen near certain elevators. It was easy to put the lanyard on when ready to disembark, then tap and go to get off and on the ship. Otherwise, the medallion was in my bag. Occasionally, it appeared that the Shipmate function wasn't working. I just made sure I was still on the ship's wifi and/or logged out and back into Ocean Compass. Remember that the people you're trying to find may be on the move! We're sorry that our next cruises won't have the Medallion! Edited August 26, 2019 by Adventures ahead

alwayssingin Posted August 27, 2019 #938 Share Posted August 27, 2019 Okay. I'm so confused! How many apps do I need to download? I see Ocean Ready, Medallion Class, and Compass mentioned in threads. Do I need to download all of these? Are there others? Am I going to have to carry my phone with me on the ship? Sorry, just a bit overwhelmed. You can purchase 1 device or multiple device package. On the 1, you can log out for 1 and in for another. Do not need the phone. Just lose out on some functionality. Between my wife and I we have 4 devices, a phone and tablet each. Princess is offering the 4 device package for $14.99 a day which would come out to about $225.00 for our cruise. Or we could each get the single device package for $100.00, or share the single device package, taking turn signing off and on. I want to make sure that signing on to the ships wifi for using Medallion services such as ordering drinks is separate from signing on to use the internet. Just trying to understand how this works so we can decide the best package for us.

Sorry, just a bit overwhelmed. Let me try and answer your question or questions. You do not need to carry your phone with you on the ship. There will be digital screens by all the elevators on every floor. The digital screens allows you to see what is happening around the ship. You can locate your family and friends with the digital screen. Most people use their phones onboard with the wifi package; which you don't need if you want to leave your phone in the cabin safe. If you download the medallion class app; you should be ok. Right now you may be overwhelmed; but once you get on the ship and start using your new medallion (which are pretty cool); and you get comfortable with using it; you may want to then start using your phone; but if you don't want to buy the internet package; that's ok too. The daily patters will be available thru the medallion class app on your phone.. Like I mentioned; if you want to leave your phone in your cabin safe; then you can bring the daily patters (paper copy) with you or use the digital screens to access the patters. Hope this helps

Sorry, just a bit overwhelmed. @alwayssinginNo need to worry. The MedallionClass app puts all the digital experiences at your fingertips. It's what to use to get OceanReady before you leave home to expedite your arrival on embarkation day. And once you're on board, you can find venues and locate your shipmates (OceanCompass), order food & drink (OceanNow), play games (PlayOcean and Ocean Casino), and more by interact with those additional experiences however you'd like - by using your smart device, interacting with the portals (digital displays) found throughout the ship or using your stateroom TV. So if you prefer to take a vacation from your device, you can, and don't have to worry about missing a thing.

dweidensaul Posted August 27, 2019 #945 Share Posted August 27, 2019 How far in advance of my sailing should I be able to link my reservation in the Medallion Class app? I've entered my name and booking # exactly, but it cannot find it. It is easily visible on the website's Cruise Personalizer though. I'm still 197 days out at this point. Any knowledgeable answer is appreciated. I don't want to spend time on phone with Princess unless absolutely necessary.
