Chops v MDR Upgraded Steak

Does anyone know if the upgraded steak that you can buy in the MDR is the same type of steak that you get at Chops?

 

Trying to see, if all I am looking for is the steak from Chops, do I need to spend the $52 for Chops dinner or can I just pay the extra charge for the upgraded steak in the MDR.

The extra cost steak in the MDR compares very favorably with the filet in Chops.  I could not tell the difference.

I loved it but I have never been to Chops. It is def a better cut than the NY strip they serve daily.

I will post a photo of the menu for you later this week but it actually says Chops Filet on the MDR menu!

The one thing that you should know is different is the Shrimp Cocktail in Chops are MUCH bigger/better than the ones in the MDR.

Our SOTS MDR experience has been great so far this week. Definitely exceeding my expectations.

We also dined at Chops for Key Lunch.

I would not pay $52 for Chops....watch for BOGO or $20 lunch deal!

Yes the steak in MDR is compareable to Chops, (cooked same way).  Its about $16 in MDR - my wife gets it when she doesnt like the menu, I eat more range than she does.  For us its not worth $52 per person to eat in Chops.

It`s great when you can get it half price or two for one.

I'v had the steak twice in MDR, it was not as good as the one in chops

We get the MDR filet all the time - can't tell the difference and we go to chops at least once every cruise. On SOTS last year we had a bad service experience on our second night ( we were moved from our table from the first night ) and the manager gave us all free filet for the rest of the cruise.

I have never ordered one in the MDR, but I watched a tablemate on the Mariner last December order it three nights in a row.  She was quite obviously a fan.

We’ve ordered it on lobster night for a surf and turf honestly could tell no difference and we dine at Chops Griile fairly regularly.

We ordered filet from Chops in the main dining room. They were very good. Could not tell the difference.

I ordered one on my last cruise and it was fabulous and huge!  We were on day 14 of a 16 day cruise and the Head Waiter comped it for me just to be nice.
