FaithPlus1 Posted April 29, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2019 What are some excursions that you can do on Icy Strait that you cannot do at the other stops in Skagway, Ketchikan , and Juneau? When I look at a list of excursions, it's the same stuff. Is there anything unique about Icy Strait?
SuperCrewBear Posted April 29, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2019 The ZipRider is unique to Icy Strait. We took a cooking class/demonstration there that I haven't seen offered anywhere else. Good luck!
Rare Crew News Posted April 29, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2019 Whales arel closer to the pier and much more active in my opinion.
AKStafford Posted April 29, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2019 Icy Strait Point is a great spot for Whale Watching. So is Juneau, but Juneau has a lot of other options, so by doing the whale watching at Icy Strait Point you free up your time in Juneau.
Northern Aurora Posted April 29, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2019 I find ISP a breath of fresh air -- so nice not to wake up in the morning, look out the balcony window and NOT see a Diamonds International! But whale watching and Tlingit culture are the main attractions.
AuroraRose Posted April 29, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 29, 2019 I was having a similar problem with ISP, and our cruise came out with more excursions including a flightseeing tour of Glacier Bay from ISP. Since our ship doesn't go there, we decided to book that tour.
TwinMamainMN Posted April 30, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 30, 2019 Whale watching out of ISP is amazing!
NEWLKAT Posted April 30, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 30, 2019 I like whale watching and doing a bear search, they have one of the highest populations of bears in the world and you do not have to fly to go try to find them. This pic taken right out the van front window of 1 of the bear/cubs we saw this last trip.
