I see this in my onboard reservations, can I go ahead and make an online reservation and then apply the TA provided specialty dining credit to my selection once I board?

You can not make an online reservation for gifted dining. If you reserve specialty dining in the cruise personlizer you will have to provide a credit card and you will be charged when booked.

You will receive a gift card in your cabin. The gift card may already have the restaurant and time, but that is not a done deal. If you want a specific restaurant and time call the dining line or visit the restaurant for a reservation. There are tables set aside in each restaurant for this purpose. Do this on boarding day.

Thanks, I kind of thought that, but wasn't sure.  I will call when we board and get the date/time we want or whatever is closest.

What I find bizarre is that every time I get specialty dining included from Princess it shows up in the personalizer and on the booking as being provided by the TA. What's up with that? I know for certain that the specialty dining was part of the Princess promo when I booked but, just as it has in the past, it shows in my personalizer and on my booking as being a gift from the TA.

The cruise company could classify themselves as a TA because they are booking your travel, you never know with Princess (or any other cruise line 🤔).

-Many benefits that TA's mention coming from them are actually coming from Princess. I had a 3 for free promo. The Princess paperwork mentioned the free grats were provided by the TA. In fact, anyone would get this, TA or no TA.

-TA's arrange with Princess for group bookings with certain benefits, including dining, OBC, others. The benefit actually comes from Princess, but you can't get it unless you book via the TA. Princess does this with many TA's at the same time.

The thing is that I booked directly with Princess. I showed the free dining at that point. I didn't transfer to the TA for maybe 6-8 months. All that time I showed the specialty dining. After transferring to the TA the listing changed in the personalizer. Stupid.

Maybe this is why I have been wondering if I have TWO free SD's each.  One from Princess (part of a sales promo) and one a promo from the TA.  I don't think I am going to know for sure, until I am on board.  (I am now thinking it is only one each).

The first time this happened to me I went to the front desk because I was totally confused.  Part of promotion with a card from my TA.  Sure looked like I had 2 specialty credits.  They had to email corporate and I emailed my TA.  Corporate didn't get back to Customer Service, but my TA responded with an explanation  (that's how good she is).

Happened again, but "I knew"!  The next time, my TA actually told me that she was going to treat us to dinner.  Could not make reservations ahead of time.  I walked down to the Crown Grill with the RSVP's that were left in our cabinSS.  They had both reservations linked, perfect day, perfect time.

We too get a dinner from our TA. This last time, I tried to reserve April 1st, thinking it was a casual day in the dining room. Turns out, they booked us for Sabatinis instead of the the Steak house. I called the dining line and had it changed. Then we found out that it was a formal night, so we called again and changed the date. They are very flexible when it comes to things like that. Both restaurants were not used very much throughout our cruise. Sad. . .

I noticed the same for my cruise.  I walked past the Crown Grill almost every night (deck 7).  I was surprised that I didn't have trouble getting a reservation for a day of my choice.  And they were empty every night.  I was expecting limited spaces but not this time.

Yes. Also on our cruise, not many were in the casino for gambling. Some were there to smoke but there was never a problem finding a machine (usually the one I liked) ready to takecmy money! I wonder if the longer cruises are all like this?
