Ok, enough mushy stuff...ITS BOARDING DAY!!!! 🛳🌴☀️

 

FINALLY, no more mice, no more coasters, no more waterslides (oh, wait...what?!) 🤣 

Today, is the day...last night 50-some folks were reuniting or meeting for the first time. The first casualty occurred- Randy skinned his knee. One of our group is a DR, but sadly, he couldn’t help- he works with patients who have already died. So, Randy, if things get worse, you know who to call! Amy gave his boo boo a kiss and now it’s all better! 

 

Today is another sunny (and intolerably humid) day in Orlando, but we will be on the ship in just a few hours! AHHH! 

 

So here is an imperfect picture of our view from the Springhill Marriott at the MCO airport. We have a beautiful view of the Massage Envy. (What would make one envious? You don’t think?! ...Noooo! )

 

Anyway, pre cruise HOTEL, this is very clean and comfortable, recently refurbished. The ventilation system in our room was one of those noisy ones that wakes you up every time it comes on. Free Wi-Fi, speedy enough to upload my imperfect picture of the Massage Envy.  Its within walking distance to a restaurant or two, (Including one owned by the band members from KISS) and the all important Walgreens for last minute stuff (like hairbrushes. Amy is that a rats nest on top of your head? or did you forget to pack a brush!?)  Its got an included breakfast and the price is right if you need an airport hotel.

With all this pre-cruise planning that you do you never thought about bringing a physician along to take care of such issues? I could have packed last night....

On board!  Wow band ! You can really sail through check in with the app or by pre registering online before hand. We arrived at 10:40 and was on board by 11 ish. They scan your app or set sail pass and you are good to go. 

We got our WOWband at Boleros in deck 5 (a bit of a wait) then up to deck8 for Park cafe.

Royal promenade has a selection of towel animals. It’s the place to get your WOW bands, drink package, shite excursions. But to be real, but then ahead and save money and time in long lines. (The sunglasses are at the end of Central Park.

First trip to the Boardwalk. Different from oasis and Allure, Starbucks s d the RC logo shop is out here as well as the Aqua theater.

1 pm We are moving into the cabin now! Dark wood grain gives the hallways more a lux look. We entered with our bands and the sea pass cards were waiting at the door. 

Interesting all the luggage for boardwalk balconies across from us are delivered but no luggage on the ocean view balcony side. 

I’ll post a few photos of our cabin an ocean view balcony on deck 9 

The balcony is a nice surprise. I like the extra depth compared to older ships and the lounging chairs ( 3 positions) and for stools. This is s game changer for me. I won’t need to go to the pool deck at all! 

The clear panel is a treat too!

Really pleased with the cabin design. Very streamlined. I like the full “dresser” and double closets in either side of the couch. Easier access and separation for a couple.

 

The bathroom has a roomier shower with a swing door that seems more accessible to more body types. 

 

3 of our bags arrived but the biggest bag with the sun lotion ALWAYS gets nabbed for the naughty room. Of course it IS ACTUALLY 8 bottles of sunscreen. 🤣 But they always have to check that it’s not booze. 🙄

Today’s Cruise Compass 

( and what’s open for lunch- we didn’t get near the WJ, but there were plenty of tables at the Park Cafe. Johnny Rockets had a short wait for indoor tables. The outdoor tables were open, but it’s hot and there a million little black (apparently  not biting) bugs flirting around on the Boardwalk.

Those are love bugs.  You'll notice them usually "stuck together" in pairs.  You can infer where the name comes from.  They don't bite, they just swarm and are super annoying.  They (well, what's left of them) also cover your windshield and front bumper if you drive through them on the highway.  I'm sure you wanted/needed to know all that.  Please ignore me and return to the cruise.  🙂

WOW Band line at Boleros. It’s been long all day. And it moves slowly because there has only been one staff person working it most of the day. 

 

Also, your WOW Band from a previous sailing/ship can be traded in for a new one on this ship.

The wayward bag finally arrived. This is the contraband that held up the works- sun lotion. 

Muster drill in 15 minutes, then the rest of the week is ours to do whatever we want! 

I know my posts will be fewer and farther between, but I’ll try to put up something about Harmony each day!

Don’t miss muster. The same info is presented in an “entertaining” if somewhat confusing way! Muster was much more “relaxed” people milling around, coming and going, crew standing around not really directing people till you got to check in.
