Unless my memory fails me, Viking Orion seems to be a newcomer to Alaska's state capital

I could not find Viking ships in Juneau in the last few years.  This is Orion's second visit.  From the schedule she looks like she will always be tendering - new kid on the block, I guess.

Lou and Dave had Crystal Symphony in Juneau today.  We do have port congestion.  She ended up in Ketchikan.  2 ships tendering in Juneau would be difficult to impossible.

Our ship -- Ryndam and a Celebrity ship -- many years ago -- both had to tender in Juneau.

It was a mess.

5

Correctamundo! What is now Arcadia was ordered by HAL in 2000 as their fifth Vista class vessel. In 2003 plans were changed to send No. 5 to Cunard to become their Queen Victoria. Shortly before her launch, plans were changed once more and No. 5 became Arcadia for P&O

Well, that is consistent with Viking - even their riverboats are not for the mobility-challenged. Good to know in case I ever even think of cruising on one.

What would have been interesting is what HAL would have named No.5 as all four directions of the compass were already taken

When number 5 was redeployed had they already named the first 4?

Looks like she would have been No. 4, so more than likely would have been named Noordam. After she left the current, Noordam came along so that 'splains that one. If she would have stayed, now that would have been an interesting story
