Welcome aboard flute of sparkling wine during embarkation.  No inside smoking  including the casino or on balconies, no rock climbing walls, no flow rider, no ice skating rink, no QUEST. You will be elite with 0 points. Call the Captains Club at 1-800-760-0654 to verify your status is documented. No 24 hour dedicated CC HH lounge for elite and elite plus. CC HH is from 5 PM to 7 PM in the Sky Lounge except the evening of embarkation. Unlimited CC HH drinks loaded on your Seapass card (except for the first evening) to enjoy at the bars except at the World Class Bar. CC HH drinks are not served in the dining venues.  No buffet set up (like on RC) during CC HH in the Sky Lounge but servers serve snacks along with taking drink orders. Like RC you will receive in your stateroom a full list of all elite perks for your cruise.  We enjoy cruising with both Celebrity and RC. We like the similarities and differences between the two cruise lines.

In November on Eclipse our friends (elite) had wine/beer every night at dinner taken off their card as it was still during HH time.

Having done a number of cruises on Royal we tried Celebrity several years ago as we heard it was a step up from Royal. We were already Diamond at that time so became Elite on Celebrity. We really didn't like the restrictive happy hour rules - only between 5 and 7 in a lounge and with a dress code - so since then every Celebrity cruise has been with a drinks package and we didn't bother with the Elite lounge. Since then we have done enough Celebrity/Azamara cruises to become Elite Plus but the difference between Elite and Elite plus is minimal for us - the only advantage being extra internet minutes. I think the dining room food is a step up on Celebrity but the experience on a table for 2 (with 2 inches between tables) leads us to dine in Specialities for probably half our meals.

We are very itinerary driven these days but all things being equal would probably choose Royal over Celebrity since the loyalty benefits are better in my opinion. We don't do big breakfasts and not fans of the buffets at breakfast time so it's nice to pop into the Diamond/Concierge lounge which has more than enough breakfast choices rather than having to be served in Tuscan. I also like a dedicated lounge to call in for a coffee any time of day. I understand that the rules have changed regarding drinks during happy hour on Celebrity but like the fact that I can go to a lounge on Royal any time between 5ish and 8ish and that a dedicated concierge will be there to help with any issues.

That being said Celebrity do offer better itineraries than Royal on the routes we want to do and we had a wonderful trip on Constellation from Singapore to Dubai earlier this year.

You no longer have to go to a specific lounge, but it is the same limited list of drinks at any bar or at the Cosmos lounge (or whatever it's called on the various ships) The change is that it is unlimited drinks (instead of 3) between 5 and 7 pm and you can have them at any bar (except the World Class Bar).

Do they give you this list in other bars?

How flexible are they with drinks? On RCCL it is even stricter list of drinks, but at least in lounge they can accommodate broader requests.

Here is the list. They have it at all the bars. I've not known them to be flexible with the cocktails. The wines occasionally vary, especially if they run out if something.

After you call the Captain's Club to get enrolled as a Captain's Club member you should contact your travel agent to confirm your Captains Club number is included on your reservation.  One additional item to check is to see if you are eligible for the 1 cat upgrade.  Or if you are happy with your current cabin you may be able to get a small savings by having them price your current cabin at the rate of the next lower cabin.  There are restrictions but you may be able to save $30 - $50.

Quick question - on RCI we needed to wait until after our first cruise was completed to join C&A.  Are you saying that we can join CC before our first Celebrity cruise?  Does Celebrity also allow minors to join?  Our son is also Diamond on RCI (through his own points), and would love to have him start earning points on X - especially as our first cruise is 14 nights.

Yes, you need to join the Celebrity Captains Club before you leave.  That's the only way you will get the Captain's Club benefits on this cruise.  Your Captains Club number should be included on your reservation before you board.  Call the Celebrity Captain's Club and have them get your Captain's Club numbers.  You and your son will all be Elite status on Celebrity with zero points.  Since you've already sailed on one of the RCCL lines you don't have to wait.  You should also have the same sign-on ID and password on both the Celebrity and Royal websites.

Thanks.  I will take care of that.  I did create an account on Celebrity and used same email addy for login ID as I used on RCI.  I think the password is the same as well.  I noticed a link to join CC on this page, and clicked it.  It returned status of Elite with zero points.  But was not sure if that applied now, or what I would be after first cruise.  I will call tomorrow to sign up my wife and son.  We are super excited to see South America and sail around the horn.  This cruise has been on our bucket list, and when we saw it was available over Christmas break, we jumped on it...lol

Son must be 18 to have a Captain's Club number although any past cruise history will be added to his profile. Just went through this today.

Ah, OK.  Thanks.  I will have to start keeping records.  He will only be 11 by time we take this cruise.  We love RCI, but Celebrity has some much nicer and different itineraries - so may take a few more cruises with them before he turns 18.

When you logon onto the Celebrity website and you see Elite status, is there a Captains Club number to the left of the status?  You should also see your number on your reservation.

Really?  I would call and ask another agent.  Your son can have a C&A number on Royal, I'm confused why Celebrity would have different rules.

Yes.  I just logged in and not only does it show my CC #, but also C&A # and Le Club Voyage #. Apparently I am already signed up for Azamara too.  Now I just need to call and get my wife signed up.

Excellent.  Also make sure your CC numbers show up on your reservation.  Then we can see if we can save you a couple of dollars on your reservation.  What category cabin do you have?

Just curious..why are so many Royal Diamonds crossing over these days?   And what ships are they  sailng?

We crossed over specifically for itinerary.  My wife and I wanted to do the ‘around the horn’ cruise ever since friends of ours did it two years ago.  Royal does offer this cruise that often, and when they do, it’s never during school breaks.  When we got the email promoting the Silhouette 14 night holiday cruise in South America for 2020, we booked it.  Assuming we enjoy X, we may book more cruises as we have seen several more interesting and exciting itineraries that Royal just does not offer.

I will need to check.  My initial invoice does not show it, but subsequent emails is showing it added to reservation.  We booked a Celebrity Suite.  I made the mistake of booking our first cruise in a GS on Royal after I got a big bonus, and now my wife refuses to sail in anything smaller...lol.   But, between my work and our son’s school, we only can travel once a year so we splurge for a suite when we cruise.  We don’t drink, so many of those perks are meaningless to us - but we do like the extra space, and we love the cappuccino machine in the CL on Royal.  Hopefully they have this in Michaels Club.

If you're in one of the Celebrity suites, you'll already have all of the benefits 😀 so at this point it's just making sure that it get's credited to your Captains Club accounts and your not eligible for any category upgrades.   If you go into your reservation on the Celebrity site you should be able to see if your CC numbers are attached to the reservation.  If you go to manage my reservation, details and then get the info about each guest, you should see your number if it's attached.

Enjoy your cruise.

Son did have C & A number with Royal before he was 18. That is not the same number for Captain's Club. When they turn 18, they have to create an account with Celebrity. It is at that point that all of his previous cruise history is transferred over. Celebrity had each and every cruise my son had done starting at 3 months.
