csj092809 Posted August 27, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2019 Anyone have the donuts on board (particularly the Horizon, but any ship will do)? Are they good? Are they bad? Worth the money?
wemjam Posted August 27, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2019 Had doughnut had and cupcake. Both were not that great. I wouldn't buy again. (Horizon)

Marauder40 Posted August 27, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2019 (edited) I believe they are talking about the donuts and the cupcakes that are available for sale at the coffee shops. They looked real good, but from what I could tell they seemed to have the same exact ones all week and slowly went through them. My family didn't buy any, we were tempted but resisted figuring that we had plenty of free desserts. The people that did buy them didn't seem to be to impressed. Every ship I have been on this year (Sunshine, Horizon, Victory, Liberty and Breeze) had donuts for sale in the coffee shops. I have not personally tried one, but heard from several others that they look a lot better than they taste.
RandomUser123 Posted August 27, 2019 #8 Share Posted August 27, 2019 For all the free desserts on board the cruise ship why would anyone choose to spend money on a donut? I do not mean to be critical but that should be free as part of the breakfast buffet.

JennN Posted August 27, 2019 #10 Share Posted August 27, 2019 They are nicer on the eyes than on the taste buds. Same for the cupcakes and cakes.

At the price of $1.50 and with OBC to spend, I had no regrets. The lido desserts are mediocre at best. I have a major sweet tooth and I pass on just about everything.
fabby50 Posted August 27, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 27, 2019 I find the cookies on most cruise lines to be the only dessert item they all seem to do pretty well. Maybe they all come from the same mix brand :)

I also saw the same ones all week - not sure if the were fresh everyday but I only saw one bought while I was around the shop all week! I agree this should be something made of a smaller level available as part of breakfast.
lottiegreen56 Posted August 28, 2019 #15 Share Posted August 28, 2019 On my third cruise of the summer now and I have to say, the free desserts are better than they’ve been in years but they’ve done some changes or cutbacks on the stuff served in the coffee shop. I used to love the blue “red” velvet cake and it lousy when it tried it. The carrot cake also used to be a go to for me but I didn’t finish mine today. The sushi is still great on every ship so I can’t complain too much. That’s a bigger treat for me anyways!
MalleyCat Posted August 28, 2019 #16 Share Posted August 28, 2019 The only doughnuts I've tried are the ones on the chocolate buffet. I wasn't impressed. They were similar to Hostess mini doughnuts.
