RayC862 Posted September 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2019 Hi again, My wife and I head off in a couple of days to make our way to our cruise launch for a Baltic cruise. Does anyone have tips or suggestions for finding (free) Wi Fi in the port stops? Is it as ubiquitous as it is in North America? There seems to be Starbucks everywhere - do they provide Wi Fi like they do here? Just want an inexpensive way to send a quick message home and maybe quick email check. Thanks,
SRF Posted September 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2019 My experience is that it is more common than in the US. Every shop or food venue seems to have wifi.

Thanks, Before you sign in to (what may become your most "expensive" ever) FREE wifi in any port area, Google and watch the NBC Rossen Report on wifi hacking in cruise ports and resorts. Heidi13 Posted September 7, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2019 When looking for free wi-fi in any port, best idea is to follow the crew walking off with laptops, etc. They know all the best places.

Yes. At the very least use a VPN.
ilikeanswers Posted September 8, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2019 Some cities provide free city WiFi so you don't even have to find an eatery or cafe, though in my experience they tend to be a slower option. If you are worried about being hacked you can use a VPN but you may find some WiFi networks won't work with a VPN. Also if you plan on using VoIP services like WhatsApp some WiFi networks have put bans on those services so you may not be able to send messages or place a call with those sort of apps. Sometimes a little WiFi shopping may be required😜 but luckily in Europe you will have plenty of options.
ger_77 Posted September 8, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2019 We didn't have any issues finding free wi-fi while on our Baltic cruise - practically every bar and restaurant had it. As usual though, if you find a Starbucks or McDonald's, you can rest assured there's wi-fi there! Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂
