Dogma4 Posted September 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2019 Greetings and thanks in advance....can anyone tell us what is directly above these two cabins? Have looked at cruise deck plans dot cm and it is unclear what is up there! Appreciate your help!
RuthC Posted September 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2019 Looks to me to be the offices (on starboard) or photo shop (on port) leading to the entrance up to the doors of the lower level of the show lounge. If they are not outside the show lounge, they are just inside it, under the stairs to the upper level.
Dogma4 Posted September 15, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted September 15, 2019 Many thanks Ruth. Hiwever, I fear they are inside showroom doors...not sure if that is good or bad...thoughts, pleae.
oakridger Posted September 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2019 I wonder if there is noise bleed from the show lounge. Hopefully someone with firsthand experience can answer that question.
RuthC Posted September 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2019 I checked again, and they appear to be under the stairs, inside the showroom doors. If they were my only choice, I would take one, but I would prefer something aft of the forward elevators. I have no idea if there is noise bleed, and that would not concern me, since I would be at the late show if I were aboard. Since they are not near the stage, I suspect there is not as much noise as further forward would be. That's based on the noise bleed under the Queens Lounge on the Vista ships when the BB King group is playing. Very few rooms, directly under the bandstand, hear them. I don't know if the two classes of ships have different construction, though.
Dogma4 Posted September 15, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted September 15, 2019 Thanks, folks....firsthand knowledge of 322 on Maasdam led us to believe 320 and 321 were also under low traffic areas....more comments much appreciated!
Cruise4food Posted September 15, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 15, 2019 Comparing in the deck plan (from the cruise atlas) shows that staterooms 320 and 321 are under the showroom stairs. Your old room 322 seems to be a Lanai, under the Photo Gallery. 320 and 321 would be ocean view. The cruise atlas deck to deck alignment can be checked by looking at the stairs and elevators. Dogma4 Posted September 16, 2019 Author #8 Share Posted September 16, 2019 That is same thing we saw......just concerned what, if any, negative effects this might have on us...…..thanks all!
KarefreeKaren Posted September 16, 2019 #9 Share Posted September 16, 2019 I was in 322 on the Maasdam for a very long cruise earlier this year. Loved the cabin and location, especially the easy access to outside. I did not experience any noise from above. Good luck with your decision. Dogma4 Posted September 16, 2019 Author #10 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Thanks all. Just got my agent to book us into 324, which we know is below the photo shop (like 322)…….
Rare LewiLewi Posted September 16, 2019 #11 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Would the location of 324 be problematic because of the outside doors next to it. Can you hear banging noise when people are going outside to promenade deck? .
Dogma4 Posted September 16, 2019 Author #12 Share Posted September 16, 2019 That is a bit of a concern but we like that deck and we don't want to pay an extra $1,000 each for 322......Any further aft and you are under the kitchen which is where we were on another trip...….My brother stayed in 324 on our Maasdam trip and only time he commented on doors was when we were in a terrible storm (off Halifax)…...thanks for the heads up, though...…... KarefreeKaren Posted September 16, 2019 #13 Share Posted September 16, 2019 On the Maasdam, they did not convert 322 to a lanai cabin...and the lanai cabins were $3000 more as I travel single. I loved having the access to the teak chairs just outside my room! My suggestion would be 320 as that door seemed to be hardly used. Happy sailing, Dogma! The galley is above cabins starting 366 and 373, then aft to the aft staircase/elevator bank area. Forward of that is under the Shore Excursion and Front Desk area. I've been in 345 many times over the years, and it is always quiet above that, as far down as the mid-ship doors to the outside deck.
Maya_C Posted September 17, 2019 #15 Share Posted September 17, 2019 As for door noise in a cabin near the outside doors, we were in 371 on the Veendam, adjacent to the hallway to the outside doors, and heard no door noise. We occasionally heard some banging and scraping from above early in the morning. We loved being on that deck and would book an OV cabin on it again. We wouldn't pay extra for the lanai cabin, which has less storage space than the OV. Maya_C
