pcrum Posted September 25, 2019 #858 Share Posted September 25, 2019 Wow, the Chef's Table has changed since we did it. Do you still get the complimentary photo of your table and the chef? They also used to include a Carnival cookbook as a gift. We used to enjoy the old menu. The menu you had...not so much. We are "foodies" but don't like foo foo food that sometimes looks better than it tastes. Give me a good steakhouse aka Fleming's, a good salad, creamed spinach, and a chocolate melting cake for desert and I'm good! Hope this port stop is better than the last one! Happy birthday. Enjoy being 50! The next "big" birthday for DH and I is 60...hard to believe it's just 4 years away! 😞

It's amazing... In Arcade/Video Games we certainly show our age... I am a few years older than you & in addition to those I would throw in Pinball 🙂 I think Pac-Man came out in either JR High or early Highschool & of course Ms. Pac-Man... We started @ home as a small child w/ Pong & Super Pong... Edited September 25, 2019 by Von & John

I was eating up at the buffet just now, and these two old ladies were just demanding and berating this poor girl almost to the point of tears... She was like "I want a hot coffee, very strong. A glass of hot water. Some apple juice, and some creamer, very cold" keep in mind, this is the buffet, not the dining room. Not that you should treat anyone like that in the dining room either... I have seen that as well. I'm like get up and get it yourself, the walking will do most of them some good!
Rare sid_9169 Posted September 25, 2019 Author #867 Share Posted September 25, 2019 My little journey out into Curacao turned out to be shorter than I had originally planned... I left the ship right as we were cleared at 1:30, and started walking towards town... It was hot... I made it up to the floating bridge, but it had just closed for pedestrian traffic to open up... I never knew that was a thing, but this was my first time here, so lesson learned... The guy guarding the bridge said you can walk down there and catch the free ferry to the other side... So, I walked down there... By this point, I was already drenched in sweat. Luckily, I had brought along my cap, or my head would've gotten sunburn.
Rare sid_9169 Posted September 25, 2019 Author #868 Share Posted September 25, 2019 Several minutes later, the ferry showed up, and I was heading to the other side of the river.
Rare Von & John Posted September 25, 2019 #869 Share Posted September 25, 2019 We have pictures on that bridge from a few years ago... I'm not sure I remember that it opens for water traffic...
Rare sid_9169 Posted September 25, 2019 Author #870 Share Posted September 25, 2019 When you arrive on the other side, you'll be right in front of the famous Curacao "skyline" that you see in all the pictures...
Rare sid_9169 Posted September 25, 2019 Author #871 Share Posted September 25, 2019 (edited) When you get over there, the town is basically a set of alleys other than real streets. Some of them are only a few feet wide, and others are as wide as a small car... Edited September 25, 2019 by sid_9169

Rare sid_9169 Posted September 25, 2019 Author #873 Share Posted September 25, 2019 And, I kept walking... I happened upon the famous Curacao sign, where people were having their pictures taken in front of it... I just took a picture of a bunch of strangers in front of the sign... 1

Rare sid_9169 Posted September 25, 2019 Author #875 Share Posted September 25, 2019 I walked some more, and it was really, really hot by now... It was like the seventh circle of hell out there. I tried to walk on the side of the road with the shade, but it was hot in the shade too... I believe this place was called the rund market... I guess because the building was "rund" which I can only assume means round... I think they speak some sort of European language here. I heard some speaking English too.
