Early vs Late dinning Koningsdam

Not sure which one to pick for our upcoming 10 Southern Carib cruise in Jan 2020. What time are the shows? Early seems too early and Late seems too late. We are two people and anytime dinning is always frustrating getting a table for two and waiting if we go at 6:30. I am leaning to Late but I read that we will miss out on shows if we do late. Please advise.  THANKS

Shows will be planned around meal times. When we were on KDam, they actually had 3 shows most nights...7, 8 and 9, typically.

 

You shouldn't have any problem getting a table for 2 in Anytime...we didn't.

So if we picked late dinning we would go to the 7:00 show. What is there to do after we are done with dinner? I'm not sure I like going to a show before I eat dinner. When you do fixed it is a better dinning experience than mytime dinning which we usually get.

If you enjoy live music then BB King’s and the Rolling Stone Rock Room are always lively.

When we were on the K in April, some of the theater shows were at 10.  We always have late main dining because we don't want to rush coming back from our port days and hurry to get ready to go to dinner.  We enjoy relaxing when we get back,  then shower and dress for dinner.  It allows a leisurely drink at one of the lounges before dinner and to listen to the piano player in Ocean Bar.  After dinner there is the (billboard onboard) piano lounge, rock room, the theater, BB King (too loud for us) or walking on deck.  There were many possibilities.  

 

For us, we much prefer main dining instead of a new table with new people and new staff every night in anytime dining.

When we were on the Koningsdam in January & February there were only 2 show seatings and filled up.  The first time we were on the Kongingsdam there were 3 shows which was great.  We were disappointed they’d gone to only 2 shows as it filled up and standing room only.

Our experience on the K'dam, Zuiderdam and Eurodam in the past year is that you will get better service on the second seating.  It is less crowded.  Our wait staff have told us that the 1st seating is the most popular and is usually full.  Second seating also means a greater choice of tables, ie easier to find two tops.

What are the two dining option times?

5:45 or 8:00  We are leaning towards late dinning for all the above reasons BUT we like the shows and if the shows are 7:00 & 9:00 on most nites we will have to go to the show first then to dinner which is a little strange for us since we usually do the opposite on a cruise. We usual so anytime dinning but it's a zoo and they give you terrible table for two's when you are practically sitting 2 inches from other people and it's awkward.

Have to agree with the sentiment stated here. We always do late seating. DW likes to go to the SPA when we get back on the ship and then have relaxation time. I think you'll enjoy seeing the early show at 7 it's usually not as crowded as the later show. We always enjoy dining with a fixed group of people. The servers get to know your preferences after a night or two. We have made a lot of friends this way over the years some of whom we still stay in contact with to this day.
