Recently off Equinox - observations

Was on the equinox a couple of weeks ago and we had another good cruise. Some observations:

This year the captain was non existent and with his thick accent we found it hard to make out what he was saying on the speaker sometimes

They had the outside screen going but we didn’t watch any films due to having seen them all Rocketman, Apollo 13, Dirty Dancing, Aladdin.

Food in the buffet was good however on one occasion I picked out a spoon which clearly needed a good wash and handed it to the manager on duty so to at least highlight that it wasnt good enough. We found the food in the MDR was nowhere near as good as previous cruises. Our servers were excellent but after the sommelier had poured the first glass of wine only on one occasion did he refill without having to be asked

Entertainment on stage was the usual affair with the exception of a three man vocal group called Uptown very good. Entertainment round the ship was fine and we both enjoyed the solo singer guitarist. We normally don’t enjoy the production shows but found this time the singers seemed to be well matched and had decent voices

The stateroom although we don’t watch much tv it seems there are only about six channels to choose from. The robes have been changed to a material which makes you sweat and the table on the balcony is ridiculous.

Finally the casino. I know we don’t go to play with dealers who want to be your friend however they did not seem to have any personality in addition the tables were pretty quiet especially the roulette table which normally only had one running instead of two. Perhaps it’s due to the ten dollar a play rule?

In summary we keep returning to Celebrity because we find it a safe bet and we enjoy the little extra Elite perks however noticing standards slipping.

s fans............lawn tv - schedule in daily planner

tee rick....if you consider we have cruised Celebrity every year over the past few years and my post mentions a few negatives then thats actually not too bad in the big scheme of things. so this year ive highlighted some observations compared to previous cruises and hope next years cruise on whichever celebrity ship will be back to normal.

I wish they would be more creative with the entertainment on the outdoor screen besides movies that have been streaming for a while. We once saw a Tina Turner concert on an outdoor screen on a ship years ago. It was amazing seeing it on that large a screen. We still remember how much we enjoyed it.

Interesting.  I was also on the Equinox a few weeks ago on a B2B.  I found Captain Manetas to be pleasant and personable.  Chatted with him briefly in the Retreat Lounge at the senior officers reception and then one day found him lunching alone in the cafe, so asked if he minded if I joined him for a bit.  We again had a nice chat.

I was not in a suite on the second leg, none available.  I found the food in the MDR to be excellent.

I guess everyone perceives things differently.  These two cruises were some of my best ever on Celebrity.

The few times that we weren’t in AQ or SS  because of the cost difference we would have breakfast every morning in the MDR and found it to be just as good if not better.  They served the same sweet rolls, juices and etc.  the menu also had more choices.

Also find it ironic that there are many  passengers in Blu and Luminae that  complain when  they can’t order off of the MDR menu.   Apparently they don't think the the food in the MDR is bad and like you we thought it was excellent .  We were always happy with the food and all service when dining there.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
