Rare pierces Posted October 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2019 Pictures taken between Monday, October 7 and Sunday, October 13. Rules: See above That's it. This isn't a contest. All photos taken this week are welcome (not just cruising). Prizes will not be awarded. Discovering the joy of photography is the prize. The idea is to get folks out using their cameras for more than vacations and toddler birthdays. Post one. Post many. Up to you. Have fun with your camera and share your fun with others! Docker123 Posted October 11, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2019 Well, the neurosurgeon told me no more flying bird photos or my head will fall off, or something. so some animals not in the air. A rakali, aka Australian water rat This is is a straw necked ibis, seemingly not too happy about the photographer Looking down instead of up and I found this shy blue tongued lizard. It would not come out any further.
Rare pierces Posted October 11, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted October 11, 2019 After a few weeks of afterthought PAW photos, I put the camera on the strap and took it to the grandkids' skating lessons with Picture-A-Week plans. They are only a few weeks into the process but are improving quickly. No double axels yet, but fewer butt-flops. This really takes Kim and I back thirty years to when their mom was out there with her siblings skating their hearts out. Matthew chose hockey where his uncle did the figure skating for football agility. Jackie is, well...Jackie. A year from now she may be doing spins and jumps like Mom and Auntie or hip-checking the boys into the wall. This shot of Jackie’s first skates tells a story that is just beginning. Déjà vu Dave

Docker123 Posted October 13, 2019 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2019 (edited) Just back from the camera club Nature group Sunday outing. We went to Cranbourne Botanic Gardens in the SE suburbs of Melbourne. Here are some snaps. First is our friend the southern brown bandicoot. It is a little marsupial. New Holland Honeyeaters peaking out from a red bottlebrush (it seems to have snuck down the bottom of the page, shy thing) Fantail cuckoo Powerful owl, the biggest type in Australia. Then just around the corner from home, I snapped the first cruise ship of the season into Melbourne Edited October 13, 2019 by Docker123

Déjà vu Dave My granddaughter had the same skates as her second pair. She skated for 2.5 years until I had a second concussion and her aunt made a huge stink and now neither of us are allowed to skate. (I am taking a four month break, but am going back in January. I miss it too much--and no, no double axel)
zackiedawg Posted October 15, 2019 #13 Share Posted October 15, 2019 Some lovely bottom of the earth birds and creatures this thread! Nice to see I'm not the only one shooting the wildlife around here. Also enjoyed the look at bora bora, and some nice flora to go along with the fauna. I'll add to the fauna for this thread, with my weekend shots from my local wetlands again - on a very cloudy, overcast Saturday: A wee pied-billed grebe making his way through the calm waters: A male common yellowthroat - returned for winter here in Florida: A blue darter dragonfly on a dead leaf: The very very tiny white peacock butterfly, close up: A big male green iguana, showing off his orange mating colors: A juvenile basilisk lizard, crawling up a broken chip of wood on a stump to get a nice overview of his surroundings (ISO 5,000):
