Zaandam questions

It's been a while since I was on the Zaandam so have questions:

1)  Have they replaced the safes that needed a credit card to open to ones that can be programmed with one's own numbers?

2)  Are the hangers fully removable from the rod or are they the ones with the permanent metal circles and only the bottom portions are movable?

3)  Are the fixed and at will diners still separated?

4)  Is this one of the ships where the inhouse singers and dancers are no more?

5)  Has the Lido been upgraded to the new serving method and the separate food lines by category?

Thanks

1.  Don't use the safes so cannot answer.

2.  Hangers are fully removable.

3.  Sort of.  Anytime Dining is on Deck 2.  Empty tables in the fixed dining Deck 3 are available 15 minutes after the start of the fixed dining time.

4.  I did not attend any of the shows on the Zaandam last year so cannot comment.

5.  Lido Market used the new serving method.  Both sides have the same Lunch and Dinner Entree and Salad Stations.  There is a Pasta Station on one side for Lunch and Dinner.  One one side, there is an Asian Station for Lunch that becomes the Canaletto Preparation Station for Dinner.

A year ago the safes still needed a card to open them in ocean view cabins.  It need not be a credit card though; any card with a standard mag stripe will suffice, including your room card.

In July the safe needed a card with a magnetic stripe.  Doesn't have to be a credit card.

I saw no shows with singers and dancers.  Just a magician and a comedian.  Then a joint show with both.  And Planet Earth.

I was happy to see the Lido is not self-serve.

Let's correct that dining location. Wouldn't want you to go hungry!

Open seating is on Promenade Deck (deck 4) and fixed dining is on Upper Promenade (deck 5). There are times that open seating diners will be escorted to a free table in the fixed seating area, but are normally not mixed at a table with fixed seating passengers.

Just on the Zaandam last month.  You still have to use a card for the safes....just hate that....any card though with a magnetic strip will work.  But then you have to always use that card so where do you put it so that if you are not with your partner and they need to get into the safe, they will have access to it.  A real pain in that respect.  Hangers can be removed, thank goodness....lots of storage so that is good.  We were in Vista Suite 6108 and there was even 6 drawers under the vanity for storage and 2 drawers in the night tables.

We were on a 7-day and here was the entertainment:  Listen to the Music-ships staff entertained,  Scott Harris-voted best Canadian Comedian (very funny!),  Dance-Zaandam's Singers & Dancers,  Planet Earth in Concert-absolutely wonderful!, Jesse Kazemek-a tribute to the beatles, Rock Legends-Zaandam Singers and Dancers, Scott Harris and Jesse Kazemek-shared a show

There was also Daniel at the Piano bar every night and Adagio in the Explorers Lounge which was classical music and the Ocean Quartet in the Ocean bar.

We liked the buffet, good variety.

We liked the Zaandam even though it is older but it is still a nice ship and the staff were wonderful!
