SempreMare Posted October 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2019 (edited) The trip insurance store.com company sends a helpful document called “the consumer guide to having a successful travel insurance claim” to its customers. Tip # 1 is:(i added bolding) "here is how policies typically read: 'for trip cancellation benefits, an actual examination by a licensed physician must take place before the cancellation is made. For trip interruption benefits, this examination must take place during your trip.' " Question about the “Licensed” requirement: Is it safe to assume that the doctors onboards cruise ships are licensed medical doctors in whatever country they’re from? Rare LHT28 Posted October 28, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 28, 2019 I would think so We did not have a problem with our trip insurance claims once when we had to fly home mid cruise after DH saw the ship's doctor with a gallbladder attack then again the last day of the cruise when he had high fever & cough & got a shot as well as antibiotics Just supply the documents required to the insurance company they paid up
Rare GeezerCouple Posted October 28, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 28, 2019 I became very ill overseas at a hotel. It soon became clear that we couldn't manage it ourselves, so the hotel called "their" physician, who came over to see me. He came back again the next day, and then later, recommended that we ask the hotel to call an ambulance, which we did. We paid him cash (his requirement), and we got 2 receipts from him on separate letterhead. Our travel insurance reimbursed us without any problems, and there were no questions about any licensing.
