Your stateroom attendant didn't show you the remote control in the bedside table?

No, instead, he came in every night and shut the light off for me and then tucked me in.😀😀

There was a square switch on the wall reachable from the bed but all it did was turn on the ceiling lights.

I have done over 30 cruises, and several of them have been on the Summit. She has always been my favorite.  I do not like her new design, but  I still love her for her size, her crew, and her itineraries.

We feel the MDR is a huge improvement. Well except those few high back chairs. Also the big screen TVs in the staterooms are nicer. Just to mention a couple improvements.

We just got off Summit last week.  The new decor is great - the MDR, staterooms, Rendevouz lounge are noticeably different and very lovely. We did not mind the high back chairs in the MDR at our table for 2 most nights. I love Cafe el Bacio, but I was very surprised to still see the same yellow chairs and decor.  It didn't bother me, but it looked noticeably different than the rest lol.  We had a sweet 16 balcony cabin with the nice, deeper balcony which was lovely.  I did a cabin crawl showing 2 different oceanview rooms, and they looked the same as mine except the windows instead of the patio doors - all very nice.

Cellar Masters was forgotten about during the revolution.

yes, that area was still the same as well - although I rarely went down through there

Just a pass thru for us. Also Cellar Masters was a assembly point for us to be escorted by the Captains Club host down to the tenders for our tender ports.

I would add as a huge improvement the re-design of the buffet, taking it from high school cafeteria style to separate stations, more like the buffet on the S-class ships. And the addition of hand washing stations at the buffet entrances (though people need to be better directed to them).

Agree. One evening (I believe day five) we were talking with the hotel director and she kept on telling us how much she loved the new layout of the buffet. We hadn't even checked it out at that time. During our time on the Summit we were impressed with a lot of the changes. A big improvement from being on the Summit in 2014. Looking forward to our March B2B cruise on the Summit.

I was on board about a month after the refurb. I hate the new interior design but mostly because I am a big fan of the classic "clubby" dark wood look. If this were my first cruise ever I would have liked it just fine.

My biggest complaint about the refurb is, as some others have touched on, the primary goal seemed to be form over function. In our cabin specifically (sky suite attached to PH) there was very little storage, especially in the bathroom. Zero cabinets, just an open shelf under the sink. Good thing we had no rough seas, but our toiletries were scattered all over the place instead of nicely put away in drawers and cabinets. Also in the bathroom the giant shampoo/conditioner bottles had no home other than the ledge of the tub, but we use the shower, so we awkwardly balanced them on the tap handles or left them on the floor. Giant shower, no shelf.

Probably the most amusing bonehead choice was the tiny chairs in the retreat lounge. There are at least a dozen of these little round chairs and backless stools that the average adult would only be able to fit half their backside on. Luckily it was not very full so there was never a seating shortage but still...

As for the rest of the ship I was pretty pleased. Plenty of public spaces, although I did lament the loss of the library. We did not eat in the MDR but the buffet was fine. Standard cruise buffet but the new layout is much more accessible. The specialty restaurants and Luminae were very good, although I will say the gnocchi I had at the italian restaurant was terrible.

There was plenty of activity all over the ship so even though this is a smaller class you can usually find something to do or somewhere to hang out. I will definitely be back.

We also ate at Tuscan when we were on the Summit in September, and the gnocchi were horrible.  Totally dry, overcooked and hard like little cannonballs.  I mentioned this to the server and she told me this was how they prepare them!    Well, I guess that was the truth!  😮

(I had the same dismal gnocchi experience at Tuscan a year ago on the Silhouette.  The only difference there was that all of the food was mediocre or worse.)

Glad it was not just me and my expectations! Gnocchi is my favorite pasta but they way they prepared it ruined it.

I actually also was at Tuscan on the Silhouette several years ago but thought it was really good. Did not have the gnocchi though ; )

We were assigned to those high back chairs.  So uncomfortable!!!  I brought a small pillow and our server also managed to snag a couple for me.  They are so very heavy and hard to move.  Design failure for sure.
