Rare eroller Posted November 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2019 I see there are two different Cirque shows on MERAVIGLIA. I only plan on seeing one. Has anyone seen both? Is one significantly better or different than the other? Trying to decide.
cellfree Posted November 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2019 We experienced Viaggio (cocktail & show) and enjoyed it. But having been on several MSC cruises and particularly on Divina and Seaside we felt we saw a lot of the “moves” during the evening shows on those ships that we saw at Viaggio. I do realize that there is a story involved and perhaps we missed something there. All this to say it was fine for us to experience once.
SirWolf Posted November 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2019 We booked both shows on Meraviglia in September 2019 (Baltic Sea). Although we enjoyed both shows we booked SONOR again while on board because the show appealed more to us. So my vote is for SONOR.
CruisinMaterial Posted November 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2019 I saw both and Viaggio was very slow and when it built up to something... it ended. My opinion, the best show is SONOR. It's high energy and intense at the outset and continues the energy throughout the whole production.
cellfree Posted November 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2019 Looks like I will have to talk my husband into SONOR on our next Meraviglia cruise.

I endured a Cirque type show on Celebrity Eclipse a few years ago and missed what the "story" was, if there was one. I am booked for Viaggio on Meraviglia only because it was a part of my booking that I could not remove. I'll go, probably, but I am not expecting much. Gdbauer7 Posted November 25, 2019 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2019 I Saw both on Meraviglia last week and everyone in our group agreed SONOR was the better show.
Invero Posted November 25, 2019 #8 Share Posted November 25, 2019 We saw both shows last week. Personally, I enjoyed them both tremendously. We did the Cocktail option for both. (You get a choice between three cocktails and one non-alcoholic cocktail) For Viaggio, we were seated in the "Cocktail Seats" (first-come, first-seated), which are located off to the side, and behind the dinner guests. They were OK. Not bad seats by any stretch... just not great. Also, the cocktails with Viaggio were nasty. I don't think I saw anyone drinking them. There were tons of still-full glasses all around the theater when the show was done. For SONOR, we had assigned seats in the center that were very good. I suspect they were originally for Yacht Club guests, and then when they had extra, they released them to regular bookings. The drinks with SONOR were significantly better. If I were to pick only one to see... I guess it would have to be SONOR. It was the more unique show, and I think I enjoyed it slightly more. Highly recommend booking the Cirque show prior to sailing, as we ran into many people who were unable to see either show due to them being sold out. Also, as a note... in order to get to the theater, you have to go through the casino. If you see the show on a sea day, the casino will be extra smokey since it was open all day. This can be an issue for those who are sensitive to breathing cigarette smoke. If you have an assigned seat number, you can get there at the last minute and be seated just fine. But if you're in a Cocktail Seat, they seat you with the first arrivals getting the best seats. Enjoy the show. I honestly don't think you could go wrong with either. There were signs that said you could not bring in beverages from other bars. I did not see anyone try, so I do not know if that rule is enforced.
runner15km Posted November 27, 2019 #12 Share Posted November 27, 2019 When the Cirque show is going on is there a show in the main theater on the Meraviglia. Not a fan of circus acts.
cellfree Posted November 27, 2019 #13 Share Posted November 27, 2019 There is always a show in the “Broadway Theatre.” There are three each evening. You need to book/reserve your spot ahead of time.

Perhaps they use it to gauge interest, and if it hits a certain number, then they check?

You need to book/reserve a seat and they check by scanning your cruise card. 5 to 10 minutes prior to the show they let guests in without reservation if seats are still available or guests with reservation did not show up. SirWolf Posted November 28, 2019 #18 Share Posted November 28, 2019 YC guests have to use the same reservation system. Reservations can be made via TV in cabin, touch screens in public areas (using cruise card) and via APP on mobile device. Very easy and only takes a few seconds. Reservations in advance for upcoming shows during the cruise are possible. The reservation shows up in your daily planner.
jdvmd Posted November 28, 2019 #19 Share Posted November 28, 2019 Question, I am not able to prebook either Cirque show, either dinner or just drinks. I assume they are sold out or are you supposed to book when you get onboard?

I want to change my dinner/show reservation that is part of my booking to a cocktail/show reservation. If the Concierge is unable to do this, I won't be attending the Cirque show. The fixed dinner menu for the Cirque show does not appeal to what I expect to have available at the YC Restaurant.

I am pretty sure that the YC Concierge can do this or you visit/call the Cirque Du Soleil ticket counter to change your Cirque Du Soleil booking. My answers (#16 & #18) are for the shows in the main theatre, not Cirque Du Soleil shows. The Cirque Du Soleil reservation system is different from the show reservation in main theatre.
