There is a sign from NHS Scotland in our pharmacist today

It says

Taking antibiotics unnecessarily puts your family at risk.

Says it all.

If your ocean view was on Deck 4 it’s highly unlikely the air quality was any worse given you are near the medical facility- and on Deck 6 it’s mixed rooms so again the quality would be the same.

Absolutely Ann. The greatest danger to mankind today may not be climate change but diseases resistant to antibiotics due to overuse when they are not medically appropriate. A virus will not respond to antibiotics. Many bacterial infections are now close to fully resistant to antibiotics.

The answer to viral chest infections, common colds, Norovirus etc is simple. Isolate yourself from infecting others, strict hand washing and general hygiene, plenty of fluids and rest. It’s most certainly not taking antibiotics.

In the US, you can't get antibiotics without a prescription, but OP was probably engaging in a bit of hyperbole.

Well you shouldn’t be able to get antibiotics without a doctor’s prescription....anywhere. That’s part of the resistance problem.... people buying antibiotics with no idea whether they are appropriate for their medical condition.

Other countries are different. But I understand the US' approach may be wisest.

The last thing you'd want is a disgruntled teen showing up at his high school and causing carnage with a bottle of Amoxicillin.

On Pursuit now. Up to now everything is normal. I just notice that some venues are cold and  always have a light pullover with me. Maybe setting the air conditioning so low contributes to people getting  a cold since outside is warm.

Washing hands are a must, but some people just avoid the disinfectants.

Some avoid the disinfectants for medical reasons - though I agree washing hands often is very important.

Beware that some people have skin that react to disinfectants, but as the crew emphasizes: the most important job is simply taking the bother to wash your hands properly. Desinfecting does not substitute a good wash.
