Rental car from PBI drop off at Port Everglades

Because of flight times and cost we will be flying into West Palm for our Cruise departing from Port Everglades.  Was thinking renting a car for one day might be the cheapest transportation option.  Any recommendations for a one way rental?  Will need one from the airport then one from the port.  I welcome your other transportation suggestions too

You can easily rent a vehicle at PBI and return it to FLL prior to your cruise. There is no shuttle service available from FLL so a cab usually is around fifteen dollars plus tip for the short ten ride over to Port Everglades. Some rental car companies have off site locations that are very close to Port Everglades. The Alamo location on Eller Drive is just outside of one of the entrances to Port Everglades. Sixt Rental Car is located on Federal Highway just north of FLL too. The off site locations provide shuttle service to Port Everglades.

Unless you need the car while staying in the FLL area I would look at Uber and Lyft - fare for a standard UberX (good for 2-3 plus bags) should be about $50.

A cheaper option is the Tri-Rail train - shuttle from PBI to the train and pay about $5 each for a ticket to the FLL station - from there you are a short Uber/Lyft or taxi ride from your hotel.  check the web site to see what the schedule look slike the day you fly in - not many trains running on weekends.

First time riders can get a free ride on the Brightline train. It runs from PBI-FLL. The station is a mile or so from PBI and you can Uber to and from both stations. All you must do is open an account. The free ride is for two people. If you go round trip you will need a second account.
