Will be in Barcelona from 7am - 7pm on our cruise in June. Have heard tour of LaSagrada Familia is a must. What’s the best transportation to and from cruise port to get there? Any other must sees while we are there? This is our first time in Barcelona.

We just got a taxi straight there from the ship. Cost was 14 euros, but it was a few years ago. You need to book in advance for Sagrada Familia. Afterwards we got a taxi back to Plaza Catalunya, the big square at the top of the Ramblas. Department store, El Corte Ingles, is there. Go to the cafeteria at the top for coffee or a snack for a great view over the city. Walk back down the Ramblas to Christopher Columbus statue. Stop off at the indoor market on the Ramblas. Get a taxi back to the ship.

Lots of good info on the Barcelona forum of tripadvisor.  Look under TOP QUESTIONS for Things To Do:

https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g187497-i44-Barcelona_Catalonia.html

I know it's prcatically blasphemous, but our group had zero interest in the Gaudi buildings which are the top attractions in Barcelona.  We DID walk around the outside of the Sagrada Familia to say we'd done it. Going inside requires a reservation.

I like MaryLiz'  idea of walking Las Ramblas from Placa Catalunya down to the Columbus Monument.  The Boqueria Market is a great stop along the way (closed Sundays).  Such a beautiful city.  Across the street from the Market at the end of the block is the Umbrella Bldg with a dragon.  And a few blocks further is Placa Real which is a lovely square with lots of restaurants.

I'd also suggest one of the free walking tours of the Gothic District which is a beautiful area.  Most of the tours start at Placa Real.

Another thought we would be to take the HoHo bus to get an overview of the city.

We found taxis were quite reasonable in Barcelona.  We always ask 'about how much will this cost?" before we get in, but they were reasonable.  A good time saver if you have limited time.

Many many options for Barcelona, but you'll need to do a little research to see which sights and activities best support YOUR interests.

I would also use a taxi.  However, Sagrada Familia is also across the street from a Metro stop.  So if you're comfortable with using the subways in a large city, that might work well for you too, if you're already somewhere else in the city.  And please do go inside.  You can easily spending a couple hours at the location.

A visit to Sagrada Familia is an absolute must when in Barcelona. Book now to avoid disappointment. And you must go inside for a tour. Some people just stay outside for photos and leave. The inside is marvellous and not to be missed.

On our last visit we took a taxi from the cruise terminal and after we took another from Sagrada Familia to Placa Catalunya for a walk through Las Rambles and the Gothic quarter.

Is there a date prior to your visit that you should reserve Sagrada? We're going in October.

Tickets open up about 2 months in advance so it's too early yet for October.

Check back nearer the time and book them as soon as they show up to get your best choice of timings.
