Giantfan13 Posted February 24, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2020 Those of us who have cruises booked with Royal have receive their emails about banning certain people from boarding ship and doing health screenings. We are sailing on the Allure, Ft Lauderdale to Barcelona on Sunday and was wondering what type of screenings they MIGHT be doing/ Has anyone who has boarded a ship since these precautions have come out, been 'screened' for anything and how are they doing it. On reading others boards, it seems as if it's business as usual with nothing really changed regarding boarding. Has anyone experienced anything different as regarding health screenings? ljmandelbaum Posted February 24, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2020 We cruised out of Ft Lauderdale on Independence of the seas. We had expedicated boarding and were not asked any questions.
suzk2275a Posted February 24, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2020 We cruised out of San Juan last week. We were asked if we had traveled in China or had contact with anyone who had traveled through China in the last 14 days. We also had expedited boarding. SG65CB Posted February 24, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2020 Sailed last Sunday out of Galveston. The screening consisted of the regular questions about recent illness and current symptoms, plus added questions about having recently traveled to China or Hong Kong, or being in proximity with someone who traveled there recently. There were no medical checks, they were not taking people's temperatures or anything like that.
BeachChik Posted February 24, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2020 Boarded today in port Canaveral. We were asked if we had been to China, been in contact with anyone from that area and if we were sick. That’s it. We said no to all and were waived through. I would guess that if it continues to spread they could start doing temp checks.
allentownahoy Posted February 24, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2020 Same experience boarding Grandeur out of Baltimore Feb.8 as was described for Galveston and Port Canaveral. Honestly I thought they would at least flip the pages of our passports to see if we had any recent stamps from infected countries.
Merly Posted February 24, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2020 Two weeks ago we boarded in Dubai. We completed the usual health form and were asked if we had been to China. Then every page on our passport was scrutinised, as was every ones. We had to check in with immigration in Abu Dhabi and they had heat screening cameras to check everyone. We go back on the same itinerary in 2 weeks and have just read that Coronavirus is now in Dubai so wondering what might happen this time.
