wemdym Posted February 28, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2020 Hi there, hoping for some great advice please. As we are new platinum members for our next cruise, I know we get the speciality dining for two restaurants. We are cruising on the Dawn in April and we were wondering can we reserve our dining online now before we cruise? or do we need to wait until onboard? Thanks
Rare luv2kroooz Posted February 28, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2020 Either. Reserve now or wait til you get onboard. If considering Moderno, I'd wait til you board since it has a flat fee and may require a "payment" in advance since the online booking won't be able to credit you for platinum benefit. ighten Posted February 28, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2020 No you can do it now- The just inform the restaurant when you arrive you will be using your Plat Perk - there are a cpl of odditys if its a restaurant that is set price because you would have to pay when you booked - but in normal your fine

Thanks You should have reserved dining when reservations opened 120 days prior to departure. You can check now, but you may have waited too long and Prime time reservations may be sold out. If you can’t get good times, go to dining reservations as soon as you embark. Go to Cruise Next on embarkation day to reserve you spot on the free behind the scenes tour. Don’t forget your free bag of laundry Each.
SouthLyonCruiser Posted February 28, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2020 I have always used a travel agent when booking my cruises. She always makes our dinner reservations for us as we usually have a few people dining at once and a couple of us are Platinum and it could get confusing trying to make those reservations yourself. A travel agent saves you the hassles and makes the experience trouble free. If you have a good one (travel agent), you should have no problem. MagnoliaBlossom Posted February 28, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2020 Not true about prime time being sold out. Only. A small percentage of reservation slots are available for online booking. But you do need to go straight to the reservation desk as soon as you board. It will be helpful if you have already decided on restaurant, date and time, and alternatives if your first choice isn’t available.76 past cruisesUpcoming:NCL Getaway 3/29/2020NCL Breakaway 1/10/2021CCL Dream 5/16/2021
4774Papa Posted February 28, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2020 Our last NCL cruise on the Dawn, we had a party of six and tried to make dining reservations for five nights (3 we had the dining package) in advance. I booked on the very day dining was open and of the five nights, we had three that were terrible times, like 8:30 or 5:30. I was told that NCL only opened up 1/3 of specialty dining prior to the cruise. So as soon as we boarded the ship, I went to the place set up for booking specialty dining. I did manage to change two of the 3 terrible times to better times, still we had to eat at 5:30 one night. It was irritating that if you get a perk for Platinum status and then pick the dining package that you have to deal with this as well.
disneykins Posted February 29, 2020 #8 Share Posted February 29, 2020 We are platinum plus, is there a limit to the bags of laundry on a 4 or 5 day cruise? I'm reading it as 1 bag per member per cruise with no minimum days, am I right? Thanks, To ny

tooleman56 Posted March 1, 2020 #10 Share Posted March 1, 2020 We are currently on the Gem, are Platinum, and did not reserve any dinner reservation times in advance. We made our reservations onboard on embarkation day and got all the times we wanted, at the restaurants we wanted.

The NCL web site for the Latitudes program benefits says this: "Onboard Discounts (including the pre-booking of shore excursions) are available on all sailings. All other benefits are available on sailings 5 days or longer." https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program
bonvoyagie Posted March 1, 2020 #12 Share Posted March 1, 2020 We were just on the Gem for three weeks, they allowed us one bag/plat member/week so we could use the benefit three times for each of us. However I am not sure if that will be true on every ship or sailing.

( I believe the platinum perks while on board rest in their hands) Anyway on my 19 day TA cruise we got 2 bags each, We also did a back to back (10 and 15 days) combined this into one cruise (all under same reservation number) and we got one bag each for the leg of the trip. (25 days 2 bags each) 10 day cruise just last month 1 bag each.
