How is Seaside doing?

We have a sailing this month on Seaside. With all of the news it is difficult to get excited about the cruise.  One day we are going, the next day we say that we can't take a chance.

We leave on our cruise on Seaside tomorrow. Every time I tell someone we're going, they react in horror, so I know what you mean! I'm taking disinfectant wipes to use on both plane and in cabin. A nurse friend gave me some masks, but we are healthy, so I don't think we'll need them. I'll try to reply when we get back on the 14th. When is your cruise?

We leave on a b2b on 14th March. Just going day by day and hopefully everything goes smoothly. Horrible being anxious rather than excited for my hols!

We leave on the 13th on the Divina and we feel the same.  Everyone around us thinks we are crazy, so much so, that now they have us thinking that maybe we are.  We have the wipes and lots of hand sanitizer and even found a can of travel Lysol disinfectant spray.  We are also so nervous about getting to the port and having one of the thermal scanners detect a low grade fever and not letting us on the ship.  We are not sick, but you never know when the common cold will hit.  Then what do we do.  So much stress surrounding what is supposed to be a care free vacation.  Hope you have a great cruise.

We are also on Divina on the 13th. As are you are both in good health. We will take an assortment of disinfectants- wipes, hand sanitizer, Lysol. We are STRONGLY considering minimizing the amount of time that our cabin is serviced so we better control the environment. It is known that the same cleaning cloths, not to mention vacuums, are used to clean multiple rooms, an easy way to transfer a virus from cabin to cabin. I would think that a casino esp slot machine surfaces could be easily become a virus carrier, Getting any virus is a concern, but preparing for a 14 day quarantine is difficult.

Regardless it will be a great cruise, can’t let this preoccupy the conversation for the week, otherwise it will suck the enjoyment out of the cruise.

Getting the same reaction from everyone about going on our cruises. But good point about the housekeeping. Do we really need so much cross sanitation from one room to another? I was thinking of asking the cabin steward to not come in daily. I do not need the bed made and the bed turned down. I am not a slob in the room so there is really no cleaning needed. New towels we can exchange...

Good Point of the house keeping.  Thank you.  Will be on Seaside in May.   We could just have our steward change out towels every couple if days.  We try using hospital grade sanitizing wipes one cruise.  They left a sticky film every where.  We are sticking with Clorox or Lysol,  they are the recommended brands anyway.

We got off Seaside on Saturday. Never could tell anything going on. I was in the Yacht Club so not sure if they do this for all cabins but our towels and sheets were changed every day and people that we met said the same.

I feel like I won’t relax all week. I’m just going to be nervous waiting for something to happen.

Take a lot of Handi Wipes, Clorox Wipes or Lysol Wipes and enjoy your cruise.  If you are in good health you will have a great time.

eveyone have great cruise on the seaside im suppose to go april and im going.  can anyone just confirm to me if ill be ok to wear shorts at night to dinner.   just to the regular resturants on the ship or you have to have jeans or pants to go in there.   im talking nice pair of shorts and collard shirt  thanks

Officially, no shorts in the dining room in the evening.  I would definitely take a pair of long pants.

Also, Seaside, with the majority of passengers not Americans, tends to be dressier than the other mainstream lines sailing from the US.

Booked for 14 days starting April 18th on Seaside, for our honeymoon. MSC will need to cancel the cruise to keep my fiance and myself off the ship. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Same for us! We sail on April 4th and the only way we won't sail, is if the ship doesn't sail. I like the idea about reducing cabin cleaning by the steward. That kind of makes sense anytime. We do have Lysol and wipes ready to go.  We always bring hand sanitizer on vacation, so that's not a change.

Just off Seaside and I can honestly report that the room stewards are changing out beddings to include duvets and disinfecting rooms at the hospital level.  Pillows were removed and sent to laundry. Even the covering used on the bed to protect the bed from luggage....everything.  Two members of my party are medical personnel and they were impressed with the cleaning protocol.  Example:  The Seaside uses glass toothbrush holders and when we picked up luggage from our room this morning after breakfast The holders were filled with a disinfectant solution and soaking.

 

We had a fabulous time....ship had less than 4000 passengers onboard out of a capacity of 5500.

I’ll be on seaside 14Mar as well. One moment I’m going the next I’m not. Admittedly nervous. 2 of underlying health issues. Asthma. Hoping on Monday they will make an announcement allowing us to rebook and not pay a the hefty cancellation fee like the other cruise lines.

Thanks for the info. Due to board her 14th March so keeping a close eye on things. On a slight positive, did you feel a difference to the level of service provided due to less people onboard?

The service was fantastic and so was the interaction with ship officers.  The officers would approach you in the hallways or Buffett and strike up a conversation.  In Cozumel, the Disney Wonder was parked next to us.  The Buffet Manager was previously employed on the ship and entered into a conversation about the workings of Disney ships.. transiting through the Panama Canal ..while also mentioning that the Seaside would have an excellent Pork Loin in the carving area for dinner.  He was really funny.

 

However, I can’t imagine lunch in the buffet with 1500 additional people Onboard ...it would be unworkable.

 

The cabin steward has been the best we’ve had period, and that’s inclusive of suites with Butlers on other lines.

We’re scheduled to be on the Seaside March 21 also.  I’m so conflicted.  I’m not really worried about the virus, I’m worried about a possible quarantine because of other passengers. We’ll have 2 dogs in boarding and both have full time jobs. We’re contemplating cancelling if the announcement tomorrow allows for it w/o penalty, and the booking a VRBO in the Keys for the week.  Any thoughts?

Also on the 4th of April sailing, 10 of us coming from the UK. No intention of cancelling, unless its MSC who cancel!

Same as you.  Worried more about quarantine than anything else.  We both work full time.  Anticipating what they say tomorrow.  We also have one booked in June--hopefully better by then.
