Lhahn Posted March 17, 2020 #26 Share Posted March 17, 2020 We are booked on 4/25 on the Panorama out of Long Beach. I am wondering when Carnival will decide to announce if they extend their suspension? I would think after 3/31 so they don't have to change their current cancellation policy which only gives us until 3/31 to decide. I am planning on cancelling regardless due to elderly parents coming to watch kids and we live in Seattle.....but playing the waiting game to see if terms are better if Carnival cancels. I'd like the FCC and $600 OBC. I'm not clear, is there any FCC or refund if we cancel after 3/31 but before 4/25? I booked through big box store and its been impossible to get through to speak with anyone.

What made my decision easier was they offered a full refund. No FCC. This way I have no limitations on when I cruise. I will definitely cruise again. I'm addicted. Only this way I can control when I cruise. I leave 4/11/20 as well. I was not offered a full refund. How did you get yours? *Edit: I see that you talked to your PVP. I was unfortunately told that the terms are on the website and the letter I got via email and that it wasn't an option to get a full refund. Either way we will cancel - both my sisters are over 70 and no doctors are going to sign the paperwork saying they are ok to sail even though they are healthy. I did cancel the shore excursions we had booked online for that cruise this morning. When I was trying to complete the transactions to remove them it kept giving me a message that said they couldn't process my request - try again later or call this number 800-764-7419. I called the number and was only on hold for 20 minutes before someone picked up. She checked my account and said yes they had been removed. She told me to log out and clear my cookies on my computer and then log back in. Did that and they no longer show up. Let's hope that when we cancel the cruise and use that credit for a future cruise it goes just as smoothly. Stay healthy everyone and hope this passes soon.. I am booked on the Magic for the same time period. I cancelled all of my purchases and the cancellations went through just fine. I am waiting for the cruise to be cancelled to rebook. I am definitely not going on the cruise. I just returned from a cruise and things are nothing like when I left for the cruise. It's not worth the risk of traveling to return and be isolated for two weeks as a precaution. I am self quarantining for two weeks just to be on the safe side for those around me. A TSA agent out of the Orlando airport tested positive and I believe an employee out of Atlanta did too. Both are airports I went through. I used to be one of those who was going to cruise no matter what because I am healthy. But I realized my actions affect my friends, family, coworkers and all of their families. This is more than just my health. Traveling through airports is a risk that affects more than just myself. Coming home and staying away from family members for two weeks just doesn't appeal to me. As much as I love cruising, it's not worth it. I look forward to the future when this is all behind us and feel like someday it will get back to normal. April of this year isn't the time, in my opinion. Edited March 17, 2020 by TNcruising02
Debs6475 Posted March 17, 2020 #29 Share Posted March 17, 2020 We have a cruise scheduled for May 2nd on the Breeze and we have decided to wait and not cancel as of yet in the hopes we can still go or get a better deal since I got a $750.00 on board credit with my current cruise and I haven't seem anything being offered that is comparable. The other unknown is that we also have a trip to WDW the week before so some of this hinges on the park opening back up as well. I guess know it is a wait and see. I was trying to get re-booked for the following week (leaving the 11th) but I'm giving up for now. I'll be really surprised if operations are back to normal then. We were on the same cruise😢. Brighter side I just rebooked on Sunshine for 6/22-6-27, they’re offering two-free days it appears. A few days ago balcony or ov, can’t remember which I was looking at was $629, just got a balcony for $378😳. Hoping they throw the difference from the April cruise along with the $300 for not cancelling as OBC as well.
RD64 Posted March 18, 2020 #31 Share Posted March 18, 2020 When the next round of cancellations comes out - as I feel is inevitable - perhaps the cruise lines will not be so willing to give out FCC as so many people are banking on making money on this? Cruise was booked on a casino offer for 100.00 plus port fees and taxes with 200.00 OBC. Price is SO good compared to regular pricing. If Carnival cancels, I will take the refund. Their FCC could not beat this casino offer, unless they offer a bigger OBC with the FCC. Question do you know if your deposit was non refundable. If so do you know if they cancel will you get that deposit back? We booked a casino rate and the deposit was non refundable so I’ m worried that we will lose our 200.

I was under the impression that if I cancelled, I would not get that back. How did you get a full refund? My DIL cancelled and only got 50% in FCC. This waiting for them to cancel is driving us crazy. We are senior citizens and really should not be sailing at this time, although we are healthy seniors. IPlayWithString Posted March 19, 2020 #37 Share Posted March 19, 2020 I seriously hope they don't end up cancelling cruises all the way through August. I really, really hope they don't. We have two cruises booked this summer (one in June and one in July) and I just..I can't deal with the fact that they might end up cancelling more cruises through the summer right now. I'm not taking the chance, got 2 booked now.. no more. I expect one to get cancelled, then I'll decide. Booked when virus was only a whisper. drsel Posted March 19, 2020 #40 Share Posted March 19, 2020 We are scheduled to cruise May 3rd and will wait. The reason for this is that we had to cancel for 3/22/20 and Carnival gave a 100% Future Cruise Credit as well as a $600 On Board Credit. The second option was a full refund. We took the FCC and OBC.$600 is a huge amount of OBC.How much was your Cruise fare if you don't mind me asking

Cruise, tax, fee, port charges for a total of $3,025.56 in a 9B balcony on the Pride. There are 3 of us in the cabin though. We are re-booked for next year and the $600 is showing on our itemized charges. So $200 each...not hard to take.

Actually, I think Southwest is one of the best airlines for rebooking. I don't think they will charge a fee. I believe the only payment you would have to make is if the new flights are more expensive.
grandmarnnurse Posted March 19, 2020 #45 Share Posted March 19, 2020 Update: I heard just a short while ago President Trump say at the task force news conference that Carnival has offered their ships as hospital beds. If they are doing that, I’d bet our cruises will be cancelled.

When we cancelled Southwest put the money in a Travel Funds account. The expiration date is Oct. 29,2020. It states "travel must be completed by expiration date". Since we re-booked for March 2021 we are past the allowed time. I have emailed Southwest to see if exceptions are being made due to the Virus being the cause of the cancellation but have not heard back. There are 3 of us so this is a substantial amount {$1,109.88} plus loss of Early Bird fees. Oh well, I guess we are all losing something.

The worst case is that you let the travel funds expire, and take as a "LUV Voucher" for the amount you paid less $100/person.

I had never heard this term "luv Voucher" before you mentioned it. In checking Southwest site I can't find out how I'd be able to get the voucher in this case. It mentions being bumped from a flight and being issued one by SW. Have you got any info. on how it would work with Travel Funds that will expire before the date of the new trip? Thanks for telling us about this.
Cafedumonde Posted March 20, 2020 #50 Share Posted March 20, 2020 Just want to clarify... we have a cruise in June. Regular cancellation policy for June, right? We are not planning on canceling but just curious. We might want to switch it to another cruise during the same time period just because, not because of the virus stuff.
