Has the upgrade fairy visited anyone who's booked with a casino discount?

Since the casino discount varies based on the cabin type booked, with a greater discount for booking insides, and smaller discounts for higher categories, I'm wondering if those of us who are given the casino discount are automatically overlooked by the upgrade fairy.

Yes, I have a casino discount and was upgraded on one of my sailings, albeit, a short one.  I have a much longer one booked and no upgrades on that one ... sadly!!  That's the one I really would have liked to get it on ... but, that sounds like I am looking a gift horse in the mouth, which is not my intention at all.

Thanks.....we're really happy with the location of our inside, so if we don't get an upgrade, it's not a problem. I was just trying to figure out if there was a policy in place or not.

It's really just an unknown for the time being.  I have 5 cruises booked with Princess right now ... one is sure to be canceled any day now as it is a sailing to Alaska in May.

Of the others this year, one was a move over offer so already got an upgrade there and one is a short one in December.  That's the one they gave me the upgrade ... obstructed OV to a premium balcony.  So, a very nice upgrade at that!!   Yooohooo!!

Of note, that one was booked directly through Princess and the other longer one is booked through a travel agent.  Still trying to narrow down some differences ... not sure there is anything to it other than they gave me one upgrade so maybe that other one is not in my future.

I have (which will probably be canceled by the cruise line) May 16 on the Ruby Princess which I booked through the casino and am in an accessible mini-suite with my parents and the Mini was upgraded to a Club Class mini.  Hope we will be able to get that at a later date this year also.

We have 3 bookings, all with the same cabin location, last inside near the aft pool, which is a great location for us when the weather is warm, but 2 out of the 3 cruises are in October, and start in Vancouver and Quebec, so I don't see being close to the aft pool that important, so I had our TA change those 2 bookings from "no upgrade" to "meta upgrade only". Since then, a few folks have booked insides and automatically been upgraded to balconies, so I started to wonder if the casino discount had anything to do with us being overlooked. Neither Princess or my TA could give me a definitive answer, so I thought I'd check here.

Of all the cruises that we've had on Princess, we've really only gotten an upgrade, upsell and move offer office when we've booked directly and not with a TA.  Now, others will have had a different experience, I'm sure but, I think it may  be a bit of a pattern.

We have been upgraded on 2 of our next three cruises and all were booked on casino rate.  One of cruises is on very first Enchanted cruise from a balcony to a mini.  The only problem is that I'm sure that the cruise will be cancelled as the boat yards in Italy are closed down and I doubt that they will be able to do the sea trials and any further work before the June 19th sale date.  The other is for 02/21 and I was upgraded from the lowest balcony class to the highest balcony class (40 sq ft more is the only thing I could see was different but it is in mid-ship so that works great.)  We booked the 2/21 cruise with the BSE.  We have been cruising for 25 years and this is first upgrades.  Final payment on the 6/19 cruise is due 4/20 so waiting to make final payment.  Really don't want to have that much FCC.

We booked inside cabin for Alaska May 16th - received email that we were upgraded for "free" to OW obstructed oceanview.  We were pleased until the next week when everything went upside down.  Now waiting for Princess to officially cancel the cruise so we can decide what to do.  We booked directly with Princess casino department and did not transfer booking to TA

We were on Caribbean princess in February on 14 day cruise in an inside on a casino rate direct thru Princess. We received an upgrade offer for a balcony, I asked if they could make offer for a mini suite they gave us an offer of extra $250 per person .For a 14 day cruise we took the offer and was happy we did

That's an up-sell, not an upgrade

Upgraded a couple days ago on a casino comp ocean view to a premium balcony on The Ruby SF to Hawaii next January 👍. Now to see if they’ll move me to a port side cabin.

If they've upgraded you and there are cabins in the same category are more desirable, you can easily call in and get a room change.   You probably already know that, though.

Good luck ... hope you get a cabin you like.

Thanks! The port side on this Hawaii cruise is best for the Nā Pali coast viewing day I’ve heard.

The only time they cruise past the Nā Pali coast is if they cannot make port in Kuaui due to wind or weather conditions. Then they go past the Nā Pali coast as a substitute for a day in port.
