Night before luggage check in at Manchester airport?

We're on the Azura in January and will be flying from Manchester to Barbados. We're staying in the airport hotel Radisson Blu the night before our flight. We don't have our flight details yet but if we end up on a Tui flight, will we be able to check in our luggage the evening before we fly? We've done this before with Virgin and Jet2 and it's great being able to just walk through to security on the morning of our flight.

We use this company at Heathrow, and they also operate out of Manchester.

If on a budget, click on other, then other times, until you find prices for collection the morning of you flight.  The cheapest.

It's a no brainier.......

They even send you photographs of your luggage at every stage from collection to airside.

Thanks for that, but we don't need to pay for our luggage to be picked up. We're hoping to just park in the multi storey carpark of the airport the night before our flight, walk through to the terminal to check in our luggage, then just walk to the Radisson with our hand luggage which is in the airport.

The Radisson does park/stay packages, which could be a better option to a multi-storey.  Don't forget to book an Exec Room for the room extras and access to the Lounge.

Hi,

I've done this flight a couple of times and unfortunately you cant check your hold luggage in the night before. You just have to queue up at check in as normal

Therefore, OP would be better checking into the hotel, checkin on line 24 hours prior from the Lounge, and use Airptr.  Then just stroll through to departures.  Simples.

Thanks for the replies. We're parking in the indoor multi storey at the airport. It's cheaper than using the Radisson's Park & Fly deal and the car is under some cover rather than left in some outside field, which is what happens with Radisson. Also, it's only a short indoor walk from the hotel to the terminal check in (the hotel is actually in the airport) and certainly not worth paying to have our luggage collected from us, we just liked the idea of dropping it off the night before and having a bit more time in the hotel in the morning rather than queuing with luggage at check in.

Manchester is our local airport, and am aware the Raddison entrance is accessed from one of the airport walkways rather than a shuttle bus away like other 'on airport' hotels.  I do think that you are perhaps forgetting that the likelihood of COVID miraculously disappearing by January is highly remote though, so not only cruising but also flights will be very different, even if your cruise goes ahead in some form.

You will not be in a congested queue for the baggage drop as may have happened in the past - though we have never experienced massive queues with TUI like we have with Thomas Cook.  I have posted a link showing EU safety guidelines for air travel below which could make an interesting read.  They would include the UK (and UK airlines) until the end of this year, so I do not see any changes after that and TUI is German owned anyway.  Hand luggage like we knew it will not be allowed and I have seen comments another forums saying overhead plane storage will be locked.

https://www.easa.europa.eu/sites/default/files/dfu/EASA-ECDC_COVID-19_Operational guidelines for management of passengers_final.pdf

The Raddison could be a good base and would not be a big problem to take the luggage from there to self drop facilities with staff to advise (which seems to be the expectation in the guidelines).  We have used this system on our Easyjet debut in the last couple of years and it worked OK, even though we did not understand the system at first.

Any holidays this winter will provide a big learning curve for us all, so no one knows exactly what the experience will involve, though hopefully security will not be the same hassle.  On a recent flight we were kept waiting for about 20 minutes for my bag to be examined as they had mistaken something in it for a problem item.  Just about everyone waiting were found to not have any banned items in their hand luggage either!  We will not forget to book fast track security at Manchester again after that, though we have been stuck there for a while as well.

We've stayed in the Radisson a few times now and as you say, it's very handy for all terminals. We are aware that there will still be significant changes to flying in January but were just wondering about getting rid of our luggage the night before - clinging on to some form of normality!!  To be honest we'd rather cancel the cruise now and be refunded our deposit, neither of us are looking forward to a long flight on a plane packed with people and having to wear a mask the whole time if that's still in force. We've also got flights booked to Fuerteventura in August which we'd like to cancel now or change to next year but they're with Ryanair who won't let us do that unless they cancel the flights, not us. 😕

You could of course move the deposit to a cruise later next year, or to the start of 2022.

We have a TUI package to Nerja in November and have very mixed feelings about it as we have both just turned 70.  TUI are not allowing any transfer to a later date, even if we pay the admin charge (as it would be treated as a cancellation), and we would not be insured for a changed holiday anyway.  Hence we either loose our deposit (£500) or pay the balance in early August and risk loosing all if we really do not want to travel, unless some leniency is shown.  TUI are allowing changes to later holidays for hols due to depart fairly soon, but as holidays go ahead, I am not sure they will be offering that for November.  We have some hope we may be able to cancel at a later date as the holiday will be changed considerably - but will it be considered a major change?  Having a cruise/holiday cancelled over the last/next few months seems a lot less of a problem IMO, even though it has been causing anguish.

Sorry to hear this Tring, I know how you feel as we'd like to cancel our Fuerteventura trip in August but can't without losing our full flight costs of nearly £700. We've just got to wait and see if Ryanair cancel it or allow changes free of charge.

Wowzz, that would be our ideal situation - move the cruise to another date. The problem is that I'm only semi retired and still work 2 days per week. We've got 3 trips away next year in addition to the P&O cruise, and already have 2 Royal Caribbean cruises (2 weeks and 1 week) booked for 2022 so just can't move the P&O cruise to a suitable date. My husband says to just accept that we'll be going as planned.

Good luck with whatever happens, you may even end up going and enjoy the holiday.

Looks like CMV in financial trouble from a couple of reports.  Lots of uncertainty in the world and lots of job loses for many pepople.
