The alternative is to complain about why it's taking so long to get refunds from cancelled cruises or speculation regarding how cruising will be different post Covid.  You can also add speculation regarding when each of the proposed new ships from each line will actually come out and whether any long term new builds will be scratched.

Dear SNJCruisers,

Yes ask your finacial brokerages about the cancelled ships, trips, and current builds, even the Madi Grais .. now please read about NCLH :NYSE attempt to float a multi - million US  dollar offering on the backs of current shareholders and what they told the S.E.C. YIKES!

We will get it because I do drink. My wife is going to have to suck it up and have some coffee and wine here or there. It will also allow me to try some drinks I normally will never try. With a $20/drink limit, I am sure to be able to find a few top shelf things I would be willing to try.

Since it includes bottle drinks like Gatorade, water, milkshakes, and mock tails, it will be good to have as well. I know it is going to cost quite a bit, but the way I see it, I will get my money's worth without feeling like a college kids on Spring Break. My wife drinks enough coffee to make it almost worth while. She may have to buckle up and drink 2-3 $20 glasses of wine.

It easy to reach the $52 per  day ($57 if bought on board) break-even cost, even for a light-to moderate vacation drinker.

A typical scenario: A cappuchino or latte in the morning;  maybe a Bloody Mary or Mimosa if its a seaday brunch day, if not, a couple of DOD's during the day; or  a soft drinks  and   bottled' water; and a glass wine with dinner,  A cocktail at the piano bar or and maybe one at the late  show. You'll probably drink less on port days and more on seadays, but as long as you average $50-55, cheers hs paid for itelf - and there's no surprise bill at the end.

When I went on Norwegian, I got the drink package and it was so nice to not worry about a bill. I drink at home and so to me it's worth it to have a package. I'll most likely get the package for my next cruise. I know that Carnival has a limit unlike NCL, but 15/day seems like plenty if you space it out

This is an over-simplification, but having read countless threads like this one about drink packages, if someone asks if the drink package is worth it, the likely answer is no it isn’t worth it to that person.

That is the general answer more often than not, but of course there are always exceptions to the rule.  A person could be a heavy specialty coffee drinker or enjoy the occasional milkshake or even be a heavy Pure Leaf iced tea drinker, which are all unlimited and can quickly bring value to the package.  And if they like mixed drinks it only takes 4 at Alchemy combined with the non alcoholic stuff to make it worthwhile.

Here's how we look at it... you are allowed 15 alcoholic drinks in a 24 hour period. We will easily hit that with a couple of mimosas and maybe a bloody mary in the morning, a couple fruity drinks/beer by the pool, wine with dinner, then we spend quite a bit of time in the casino at night. With the gratuity that is added to your package (18%) that comes out to roughly $4.00 per drink per day (7 day cruise). On top of that we get unlimited bottled water, sports drinks, specialty coffee, milk shakes and fresh juices. It is a no brainer for us. If you only plan to have only a couple glasses of wine or a fruity drink per day at $11.00 and order a 12 pack of water ahead of time for your room, it wouldn't make sense.

Hey don't judge! We're on vacation!!! 🙂

  • 2 weeks later...

It has been awhile since we have sailed with Carnival and have never had the cheers package. We are looking to purchase it for our 2021 cruise. I know i have read on here its 15 drink a day...but why doesn't it state that on the website?

I hope someone links the break-even spreadsheet that's floating around. I don't know if it was adjusted for the new price, though.

If you buy before cruise you safe 10%. So 6 $10 drinks per day and you break even.  Are you going to drink more then 6 you need to make the decision. There's many over $10.

Last trip we did not. But after much consideration we may for MG 12/2021.

There will be prior sailings to yours  that will describe the new bar offerings such as the one adjacent to Emeril's place that could be the new hot spot  similar to the Alchemy Bar.  You only need 4 per day from Alchemy if you like to partake in the various non alcoholic options.  With the change to Pepsi products, there are many new options like the Pure Leaf iced teas.
