Double points for a suite

I am currently booked into a balcony cabin on the Joy but am thinking about upgrading (paid not bidding) to a haven suite, will I get double Latitude points? I only ask because of this:

  • Earn 1 additional point per night for booking in a Concierge, Suite* or The Haven.

*Full fare suites booked when reservation was originally made.

The set up is - - -

1 point for every day of the cruise

1 additional point for being in a suite - haven - Concierge*

1 additional point for booking an Insider Past Guest offering.

Max daily points is -3-

Planned carefully in no time achieving Platinum --- not much to gain after that point

I upgraded last December just like you did on the Joy...from a Balcony to H8.  I got 2 points per night (I was not a latitudes member as it was my first cruise, nor was the cruise covered as a past guest offer).  However, several guests I met on the Joy indicated they were getting 3 points per night because they were staying in the Haven, and booked the cruise while a past guest offer was in place.

Next November I will be traveling for 16 nights in the Haven, on a past guest offer.  I expect I will be awarded 48 points at the end of the cruise...and skipping silver completely!  whoohoo!

The difference in perks for Platinum Plus compared to Platinum include an additional 5% discount off shore excursions, twice as many free cartons of water, twice as many free internet minutes, dinner with a ship's officer, and priority seating for dinner and shows.  Some of these may be of little use to some passengers, while others may really get a kick out of getting to know the Captain, General Manager, or other officer at dinner.  The priority seating perk can be extremely rewarding, especially on the big ships where the lines at the theater and comedy club can be quite long.  It's nice to be able to walk to the front of the line and show your card for immediate seating.

Or, from what I've read on here, the person who runs the photo gallery.   "Officer" apparently encompasses lots of folks for purposes of these dinners.  🤣

That's true, but most of the time you will have dinner with a senior officer.  So far we have been with 4 General Managers, 3 Cruise Next Managers, 2 Captains, 2 Chief Engineers, 2 Chief Medical Officers, 1 F&B Director, 1 Security Chief, 1 Chief Environmental Officer, and 1 Guest Service Manager.  Each of them ranked three stripes or more.  We also have dined once each with an Assistant Accountant, Gift Shop Manager,  Tour Group Coordinator, Casino Pit Boss, Junior Electrical Engineer, Assistant IT Systems Manager, and the General Manager's Secretary.  None of them rated more than two stripes.  By far we had the most fun with the Environmental Officer.  She was a real live wire!
