Gem Dry dock

Anyone know when the Gem is going into Dry Dock?  Will this be a bare- bones operation, or will they make any changes, upgrades, etc.  

 

I have seen Dry Dock was scheduled for NOV/ DEC in Boston

I think its more connected to the cost of such an operation. As far as I understand, its cheaper to keep the vessel at sea rather than on a dry dock. Well at least for this particular moment in time

it could be the required 5 year drydock maintenance that is needed

Around 9th - 20th Nov in Boston.

 

With only less than two weeks of work and to keep the cost to minimum, don't think there will be any large-scale changes. Most likely there is only the routine maintenance and inspection.

Yes--I recall it was to go into drydock prior to what would have been 😢 my Nov 30th cruise...

I believe last drydock was 2015 so this would be statutory at the least, plus whatever cosmetics could be afforded.

Gem's November schedule

Nov 4 - Nov 9: Bermuda cruise

Nov 9 - Nov 20: DRYDOCK

Nov 20 - Nov 30: Caribbean cruise

Nov 30 - Dec 12: Caribbean cruise

 

Another point to note:

Even though NCL can really sail again in November on certain ships first, this is definitely not for Gem's Nov 4th cruise. It is illogical that they will only operate 1 sailing and then enter drydock again. Unless NCL reschedule the drydock work, I am confident to tell the passengers on Nov 4th cruise that this sailing won't happen.

I'm willing to bet Gem won't be sailing until the Spring or Summer. Covid rates are on the upswing and its only going to get worse
