full pre-covid drydock enhancements or the minimal (ie: ncl is broke) to re-up sea worthiness certifications?

She's only in for a couple of weeks, so I'm guess the latter.

I was at drydock 3 today. Workers said maintenance not a full refurb. Sounds like technical as people GB ave said

"A couple of weeks" is a major dry dock.

Should be less than two weeks... I heard that it will be from 9th to around 20th November, if the plan does not change.

Anyone know if the Gem is running on schedule for her dry dock? The last time the Gem and the Jewel were in Boston for dry dock... things didn't go as planned! 😐

The last time a crane flipped over while the jewel was there which delayed departure which in turn delayed the Gem getting in.

That crane incident was in December 2010. I may swing by and see how things look tomorrow.

Just don't knock a crane over! I remember that incident fondly as I met up with crew from the Jewel at the time and showed them around on their off duty time. I honestly wish I could've brought myself to login her earlier than this to know she was here last weekend. I would've gone down and taken my family too. We could use a pick me up... even if it is just staring at her!

A man could dare to dream. She's out of dry dock in Boston and sitting at the Black Falcon terminal for now. Her AIS says she's headed off to Charleston, SC. Have to pay closer attention to where these ships are going in the future I guess!

I spotted the Gem when I was crossing the Don N Holt bridge in Charleston, SC this morning.

I just found this video on You Tube of the Gem sailing into Charleston.  So wonderful to see her; our last cruise before the pandemic was in January on the Gem -- 20 wonderful days from NY to San Francisco, through the Panama Canal.  Seems like forever ago.

It is exciting to see a cruise ship again. The Gem was surrounded by 4 cranes this morning. Must be continuing the dry dock work here in Charleston.
