Explorer suites

We have been on Explorer four times, 3 of which in a "D" suite. We prefer deck 8 or 7 near front elevator. The rear elevator does not go to deck 4 so it is sometimes inconvenient. Being near the elevator is convenient and we have never been bothered by noise. Check the deck plan as some suites have angled balconies. Not a problem for us but some people don't like that.

We were on the Explorer in January 2020 in Concierge suite #609.  We absolutely loved the location because of it’s proximity to the forward stairwell.  It was so convenient not having to wait for an elevator.  The suite appears to be adjacent to the elevator opening but it definitely was off-set.  The only downside was the extremely long walk to the laundry room, if you plan on doing your own laundry.  But even so, we would book it again in a heartbeat.

A walk to the laundry room--on any Regent ship--is no-longer an issue as to Cabin location.

Due to COVID-19, laundry rooms have been closed until further notice.

How long this continues into late 2021--who knowns.  Our favorite Concierge Suite on Explorer has been 659.  Low, and slightly aft of center.  Had secured two more visits to 659 for 2020, but, of course, both cruises canceled.

GOARMY!

Latest assigned proposal from TA is CABIN # 954,  please anyone who has been on Explorer,  give your opinions on location , noise, etc. Thanks

IMO, I don’t think 954 is in a good location. It is under the Chartreuse specialty restaurant which could mean noise problems.

Is there a reason your TA is only giving you one available suite to choose at a time? If you will post which cruise you are considering, I’ll be happy to let you know which suites are available.

Cruise  is Nov.2 -Dec.2 2021, Tokyo to Singapore, the highest suite available is D category. Please let me know what  cabin number in that category you propose.

docmark, here's a list of all the available Concierge Suites I see.  Category E and D suites are the same except for location and balcony size. The amenities are the same.

Category E - 963, 866, 868, 870, 871, 872, 718, 764, 766, 770, 772, 774,775, 776, 777, 778, 779, 608, 611, 612, 615, 617, 644, 647, 656, 658, 660, 661, 662, 663, 664, 667, 669.

Category D - 1210, 1000, 1001, 1022, 1024, 1026, 1028, 1030, 1033, 956, 957, 958, 959, 960, 961, 822, 823, 824, 724, 725, 726, 729, 731, 750, 752, 754, 756, 758, 759.

I like to be on a deck between two passenger decks and close to the forward elevators..  For Category E, I would choose 766.  Based on Go Army's recommendation of 659, which is not available, I would choose 661, 656 or 658.  For Category D, the deck plan on the Regent website is not correct.  The elevator entrance is opposite 726 and 727.  So 724 and 725 are in front of the elevator lobby while 728 and 729 are aft of the elevators.  I have cruised in 728 and had no problems with noise or anything else. I would choose 729 followed by 724, 725, 752, and 754.

Hope this helps.

Dave

P.S. Consiider booking your own air. The air credit is generous and out of Los Angeles for example, you could fly Singapore nonstop both ways in Business Class and save over $1000 pp. Other top notch airlines such as Cathay Pacific are also available with similar savings.

Thanks Dave, DEFINITELY doing our own Air, already reserved one way, LAX to Tokyo!!

--Really appreciate your detailed suggestions on Suites. We are going with D, so will check into your suggestions with TA.   What is your opinion on Deck 12?

dockmark, i’m sure others may disagree but, personally, I wouldn’t book 1210. It has a narrower balcony than most category D’s, is above either a WC or a supply storage room for the pool deck and possibly other areas and because I don’t care to be high up and forward. YMMV.

I know this question is very late but am booked in 729 on February 7, 2024.  I’ve been concerned this might be noisy from the elevators but it appears from your experience, that is not the case?  Thank you very much

Elevator or stairs never bother us.. we usually book 820, a PH suite. Go for it!

Just get a Superior Suite, F1 or 2. Same as Concierge except for amenities that in our view aren’t worth the price difference.

I agree that F grade suites offer the best value on Explorer & Splendor, but many of the D&E grade (including 729) have the benefit of a deeper balcony.

Also Concierge level will allow earlier booking of excursions & dining.
