Arimaren Posted January 4, 2021 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) Hi, I am in the process of choosing a cabin for my Asia cruise for next October 2021 on the Solstice and was wondering about the above inside cabins. Does anyone have experience with any of the listed cabins as far as QUIET, or extreme movement? My March 2021 Cruise was cancelled and I am getting a late start rebooking due to not seeing the email in my hubs lonely emails for 2 months. These are all that is left on Deck 9. Please if anyone had a great quiet sleep in any of them, let me know. All we are looking for is quiet. I have had rooms with huge vibrations, and one sounded like a chain dragging under the floor, lol, turned out it was the plumbing. thanks in advance. Rare cruisestitch Posted January 4, 2021 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2021 Have you checked the S class stateroom sticky? Look above this post and you will see the sticky devoted to opinions about staterooms.
Arimaren Posted January 4, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted January 4, 2021 Thanks cruisestitch are S class staterooms the "inside" category. I tried to find something on stateroom reviews, but only found Edge and M class. How do you find the "sticky" also? I have clicked on lots of banners etc.? Stickys are the permanent threads found at the top of this page. Here is a link to the one for S ships. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/863876-s-class-cabin-information-compilation-please-do-not-post-cabin-questions-here/ S class stands for Solstice class ships, not staterooms. Hi, We have been on Celebrity Solstice a few times (Australia, New Zealand) and always in an inside cabin. I don't remember the rooms but we were also up high. Since you have rooms below and above you you should have less noise as compared to being above or below a restaurant/casino/shops etc. You will also hear less engine noise than the lower decks. Also staying in a room next to an elevator is a no no. They make noise that travels. However, for extreme movement, you will notice more if you are not in the middle of the ship (especially high up). Again this greatly depends on the weather (storms, swells, waves etc) and where the ship sails. If it sails near the coast you may not even notice it moving. We have done many (12?) transatlantic and transpacific cruises during storm seasons and that was a different story when it came to extreme movement. The Solstice is a fairly large/newish ship and doesn't rock too much due to its size and ways of compensating movement. Hope this helps.
Arimaren Posted January 4, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted January 4, 2021 Thanks to all three of you whom replied to my question. Thanks mom for the spreadsheet link, I checked all available rooms on deck 8 and deck 9 on the spreadsheet, however only one showed up. It is next to the ice maker room. Again if anyone has experienced any of these rooms, please let me know.
Alakegirl Posted January 4, 2021 #7 Share Posted January 4, 2021 The first four S class ships were. Virtually identical....if you find one of the room numbers you are interested in on a different ship (NOT Reflection) you can check the deck plans but you will probably be able to use that information even though it’s from a different ship. TeaBag Posted January 4, 2021 #8 Share Posted January 4, 2021 I checked my favourite site and most of these cabins you have listed are available. I would pick 9162 as it is a ways from the white area. Sometimes white areas contain supplies for the stewards etc and there can be slamming doors. i don't know what the white area is on your deck at the front. When we have stayed on deck 11, we have made good use of the relaxation lounge at the front of the ship. I don't think this is exclusively for spa customers, although they do wait for their appointments here. It is a lovely quiet place with lounges where you can read in peace etc. It is small so might be full but keep checking. No one has ever challenged us as to our right to be there. The view out the front is lovely. Enjoy your cruise and hopefully, it will not be cancelled. We are sailing in August /Sept and a bit worried about cancellation.
middlehaitch Posted January 4, 2021 #9 Share Posted January 4, 2021 Teabag, I had just been looking at the deck plans and came up with the same cabin, 9162, as you. My reasoning was the same too, one never knows what is happening in those white spaces. Arimaren, I have never sailed in any of those cabins but 9162 is the cabin I would choose given your parameters. 9164 looked tempting initially but as there is no obvious place for housekeeping supplies until the elevators I would suspect they could be kept in the forward white space (it could also be a crew stairway). That would rule out not only 9164 but also 9168-9174 because there is a possibility o a facing doorway that could be busy. Cheers, h.
Arimaren Posted January 5, 2021 Author #10 Share Posted January 5, 2021 Thank you Middlehaitch, TeaBag, and Alakegirl, I truly appreciate your insight and taking the time to research and your explanation of white space. I hadn't thought about that type of space.
excitedofharpenden Posted January 5, 2021 #11 Share Posted January 5, 2021 I'd choose 9164 as it's got no adjoining cabin and therefore no issue if you have a door slammer next to you (and I've had plenty of those!). For the record, I've stayed in 9140 and loved it. Great location. Phil

Tipsy tea party Posted January 21, 2021 #13 Share Posted January 21, 2021 Is this the 10th October 2021 sailing from Tokyo. if it is check your account as its showing a 12 day cruise instead of 13, and itenary has changed. I searched for this cruise today on the Celebrity website and the Solstice has no sailings at all for Oct 2021. I'm booked on the 10th too so just waiting to hear from my travel agent. yorky Posted January 22, 2021 #15 Share Posted January 22, 2021 Obviously the further forward you are the more movement you will feel.
