I don't think that costs regarding the Ruby Princess debacle will impact on a decision to send ships to Aust/NZ. This was a very important markets for all cruise lines.

Princess gave clear signals that they are committed to the Australian market when they altered the itineraries of cruises leaving after 19th December that went to South Pacific ports, making them Australia-only ports. To me that indicated that, at that time, Princess had good reason to believe cruising would restart here, otherwise they would have left those itineraries as they were originally to be cancelled eventually. Of course the current outbreaks, especially in NSW, may mean they'll get cancelled anyway. 😥

I believe Princess will re-enter the Australian cruising market when the Australian government allows it. It was too important to them for the company to just ditch it.
