Back to back transatlantic sailings

For experienced transatlantic sailors, I need some advice. 78 cruises, but never a transatlantic. It’s been on my list, just haven’t gotten to it til now. I’m looking at a transatlantic NY to Southampton doing a northern route and a Barcelona to NY sailing doing Spain and Portugal. It just so happens that the first cruise arrives in Southampton May 4th and the second leaves Barcelona May 5th. Is this doable or am I crazy? Is it easy to get from Southampton to Barcelona?  I’ve been to both ports so I don’t want to spend extra time on land. Thoughts?

Hopefully this is next year you are planning for

 Yes  disembark in Southampton  go to LHR or LGW   & fly to BCN    you can get a hotel   then embark  the next day

providing there are flights  on the day you want

Thanks for responding. It’s actually 2023. I want to do both itineraries so it would give me the chance to do both in one trip and avoid a transatlantic flight. I just wasn’t sure if it would be easy enough to to get from one port to the other in 24 hours.

As long as there are flights   it should not be an issue

I had a look for this year   some non stop flights from Gatwick to BCN    just book one  after 1 pm 

Most out of LHR  have a connection  but it is for this year so who knows in 2023

I agree.  There should not be an issue for such a trip itinerary.

I agree that you will have plenty of time if all goes well. However, one thing about a transoceanic cruise is that there is no “catching up” to it. Should your first cruise arrive a day late and this does occasionally happen, you might miss your second sailing altogether. Or, is there is extremely bad weather at either airport. 
 

Does the ship stop anywhere in Europe after Barcelona? That could be your back up plan.

As long as you can get to Barcelona on the 4th. and there is no reason why you can’t...there are plenty of flights...preferably Gatwick to BCN.

Thank you for your input. There are several stops in Spain after Barcelona.
