Would we be required to stay in cabin?

the point is moot.   Even with full vaccinations, you can still carry the virus and you can still CONTRACT the virus.  Being vaccinated does not mean NO COVID.  As someone pointed out above, fully vaccinated people are still getting the virus and passing from it.

there is NO WAY that the cruise line can say that there will be NO cases on board the ship.  The plan needs to be what to do when a case appears...   sending all the folks with no vaccine back to their cabins will do nothing.  The vaccinated folks could be the ones carrying the virus around!!

Yes, they have to have a plan for when a case or more occur. But that is reactive. After the horse has left the barn.

The cruise lines also have to be proactive and try to prevent an outbreak in the first place. Vaccines don't guarantee nobody will get sick, but they do work to significant reduce the chance. True, not everyone should be vaccinated. Masks also help. Social distancing. Etc. Put together, cruising will be safe enough. That has been demonstrated. But for now, it is cruising in a bubble. That is what is happening in other parts of the world.

No, the whole ship doesn't have to be quarantined. But sick people need to be isolated and any that were in close contact need to be quarantined. There are now tests to indicate if someone had recently come in contact with the virus. Time will only allow them to become more accurate and cheaper.

This doesn't quite answer the OP's question but it doesn't sound good. From an e-mail offer I received from Carnival today:  "If a threshold of COVID-19 is detected on board the ship, the voyage will be ended, the ship will return to the port of embarkation, and your subsequent travel home may be restricted or delayed. Health and safety protocols, guest conduct rules, and regional travel restrictions vary by ship and destination, and are subject to change without notice."

No reason they shouldn’t be able to test people. We have vaccines and rapid testing. It’s stupid to talk about mass quarantines at this point. If the policy is quarantine everyone like they were doing a year ago go ahead and file bankruptcy now. The cruise lines are never coming back. And I’m going back to Mexico.
