We were sent an update yesterday, detailing what had to be taken to the pier for embarkation, but there was no mention of it. It was also taken off the web site on the June 30 th Health & Safety update.

Unfortunately you do have to take a ship’s tour to disembark 

 

We haven’t seen any tracelet wearing guests, and we certainly don’t have them

We asked a crew member about the tracelets.  He said they didn't work correctly when they tried them out on the crew so they need to iron out technical problems before they are fit to use. But they are hoping to use them in about 2 or 3 weeks 

Technology eh? It's great when it works!!

That sounds like a step backwards.

At least with Princess you do get the full fat WiFi and premier drinks package, but to be fair you pay £30 pppd for the privilege.

If you have just updated your Cabin then perhaps like other companies you have to wait until their system  updates over night.

I was thinking that but the xpress passes updated already. Not received revised invoice so maybe once that’s generated the luggage tags might follow

We are in the same position. I also once had to go searching for labels at the port and it was a pain.  We have received a new invoice and our Xpress passes have updated but we have not received a replacement passenger booklet (with tags attached). I called our cruise consultant and he said he will get a new booklet emailed out so it may be worth giving Celebrity a call.

By way of an update, our experience so far today has been disappointing. We wanted coffee around 11am today, the coffee bar was full all morning. There are no indoor bars open and all of the outdoor bars were washed down at the same time. There is no room at The Porch, The Mast Bar or Mast Grill. 

 

We ended up eating in Ocean View and in my opinion it was terrible. I started with a plate of cold meats which were put on a very hot plate, then luke warm pasta with no spoon available and no condiments such as tabasco.

 

 It's the worst cruise food I remember experiencing. 

 

I know I will get flamed for daring to say anything negative, but it is what it is.

Thanks for the update, I think there’s bound to be things that are better than others - but I for one enjoy hearing the good and the bad, so honesty is definitely appreciated (from my perspective 🙂)

What with this and the off snacks and buns yesterday, doesn't sound as though you are having much luck!

 

Hope things improve and that you enjoy your cruise.

Generally things are good, service is very willing and enthusiastic. Cleanliness is excellent. Murano last night was superb. 

 

But there are a few issues.

 

I don't think they have realised that with only organised tours available, many many people have remained onboard. 

 

As an aside the Eurofin team that were at the port yesterday are onboard.

I agree it is good to hear the bad as well as the good.

 

You probably already know this, but we found (and it took us a couple of cruises to twig!) that it is best to politely tell the staff on board at the time when things go wrong - that way they can try (and usually will) put it right.

 

Suspect this is something of a shakedown cruise for them after so long without passengers. Hopefully they'll work the kinks out soon - but they'll need feedback (which of course should include praise for things done well, too) for that.

 

Yup - we board on 17th and are not planning on taking any shore excursions. Suspect many will do likewise.

 

Do they not let you get coffee to take away from Cafe al Baccio?

Has anyone managed to get the drinks package to upgrade online - I just keep getting some guest ID error and a long number - then again I'm trying to remember if anything works on Celebs web pages correctly on a Sunday

I had to call celebrity direct to have the upgrade added on, as for some reason the website wasn’t allowing me whenever I tried.

Thanks for taking time to post - hopefully Celebrity are just finding their feet and things will improve as the cruise continues. Interesting that you found everywhere full - I guess that even with reduced capacity the social distancing measures are having an impact. Can I ask if the weather has played any part ie has it been raining so everyone is staying indoors?

I suppose if all the outdoor bars were shut at the same time most people would be inside as well. Does anyone know who the hotel director is?

The weather is good this afternoon and from where I am sitting - at a bar, that rule seems to have been relaxed - there isn't a spare seat. 

 

I don't know if it is usual for Celebrity, but there are no bar waiters and no-one clearing tables.

 

I suspect - but it's just a guess - with AI the bars three outdoor bars that see open are busier than expected.

We have a similar problem and have been advised to upgrade on board (the seller makes a little bit out of it).

 

You’ll find that you can upgrade online to the more expensive Drinks & More, which could be worth it if you spend lots of time in the casino.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post on your cruise.

It is great to have first hand knowledge of what is currently happening on board.

I am hoping the negatives you are experiencing are down to it being the first cruise for so long and that things will improve as you spend a few more days onboard.

I have a vested interest as I am sailing  on the  21st August.

On a plus point, you have some lovely weather!
