Ocean Medallion App - Part 3

We can access the Medallion app okay and have booked our dining reservations with no problem but just cannot get any further.

We phoned Princess and they too couldn’t gain access and so we have had to email all the info & error messages to their IT department.

Fingers crossed they can sort it out as it appears something somewhere is not working or being recognised as it should be.

I SMH every time I read these kinds of posts.  It is almost unbelievable after nearly TWO years that some of this stuff continues to dog guests.

Well....this is some crazy IT mojo. I have noticed on the Princess Personalizer that when I go to my "saved" cruises (for future dreaming and scheming) that when I click on it once it kicks you out of that page and gives an error alert. However, when you click on the back arrow key and select the saved cruise again, it goes right to it. So, I tried the same thing just now in the Medallion app for making a reservation....AND IT WORKED!!  I had to do it three times but the third one was a charm! We have our dining reservations on the dates and times we want! YIPPEE!!!  I hope you all have the same luck with this crazy app!

Wowie Zowie! It does work on the Princess site. Many thanks for this - I never would have thought of just clicking the back button on my mouse and then clicking the link for the saved cruise again.

 

Note:  Guess instead of Wowie Zowie I could have said "Hot Diggity!" or "Hot Diggity Dog!" I say this because of an incident that happened the other night. We went to a concert at a local casino and when it was time to leave there was a huge mass of people heading down the aisle we needed to use. I stood up and looked for a good place to move into the line when a big young cowboy guy stopped and said, "Go ahead, Old Timer". GAH!!! DOUBLE GAH!!! (I told my son about it and he said I am definitely an official Geezer.)

GAH!!! and DOUBLE GAH!!! is right!!! But I'm glad I could teach an old dog a new trick!!! 😉 Cruise on, pal!!

I just spent one hour and 10 mins!!! on the phone to Princess.  The agent was very helpful and filled in all the necessary info for the app - and I kept seeing GREEN TICKS alongside each item of required information as she was inputting!  All was breezing along until something happened and she could no longer hear me, which was before she had time to fill in all my DH's info, so she had to end the call.  However, I managed to complete the info as the 'Save' button had miraculously turned from grey to blue.  We've taken our security photos and we are now both in the green lane.  Hallelujah!

 

The phone options give you a choice of blah, blah, then choose this if you're having a problem with the Medallion app.  So Princess are well aware - have been aware for three years - that there are problems (lots) with it to have an option dedicated to problems with the app.

 

Not good enough, Princess, just fix it!

 

This will be our 50+ cruise, we haven't cruised with Princess in years.  And as I said previously, this had better be some cruise to make us even think of booking Princess again. 

 

Now, do I need a G & T or a lie down?

I have the Medallion App on my phone, but is it possible to also have it on my laptop? I really much prefer using my laptop to my cell phone. I understand using it on my cell phone while actually ON a cruise, but it would be much more convenient if I could do everything before embarking on my computer.

You don't directly have the App itself on a computer (unless perhaps you have some special software utility that supports smartphone apps running in a Windows or Apple environment).  So, you get it for on the cruise.

 

Princess has had a web version of the Princess App for quite some time now and they do mention it on their website in a couple of places.  Login to your booking (Cruise Personalizer).  If you click on the Check In tab, you will see promo to download the App and also a link to the web version.  The web version lets you do most of the pre-cruise setup information, including DMW.

I believe you can have it on an ipad but as far as I can ascertain there is no app for a Windows laptop. There is, however, a web based version accessible from your Cruise Personaliser - although that does not have all of the functionality of the phone app.

Just realised that you can, up to a point, if you have Microsoft Phone Link on your laptop and configured to your phone. Although I am not sure how much easier it is as it is giving you almost the same size screen as your phone.

Tried that but when I entered the booking number, it said "This booking has already been claimed."

Avoid the Booking Number method, it always does that. I mostly have to log out and log back in, sometimes as DW. Then if I logout and login as me it works. This is using User name / Password.

Ahhh....thanks for that. I found it. Can I assume the the DMW reservations/requests cannot be done until final payment is made and closer to sailing date?

If you are Platinum or above, I think you can do them before final payment.

How can I get out of this whole stream of posts on this subject. It’s giving me a headache. I no longer want to participate with Princess in any way. Too many other cruise lines that don’t take up all this amount of valuable time.

It is entirely up to you how much time you spend on CC forums and which ones you open up and read.

(BIG) If the system is working as designed, CC Members at Platinum and Elite levels can book dining as soon as cruise booking has a deposit down and appears in the Princess App.  Others are supposed to have to wait until they have made full payment (which could be ahead of the actual FP Date).

Scroll up to the top of this page and find the "FOLLOWING" box and unclick that so you won't continue getting emails every time someone has posted to this thread.

So, I clicked on the link for the web version which brought up "link you booking" screen at https://oceanready-personalinfo-ui.prod.ocean.com. Instead, I logged out and then tried to log in again. But at that point, whether I use my princess.com password or an old ocean.com password (although my notes say that's dead and it should be using my princess.com password, I get "Username or password is incorrect." Same with my wife's login.
