Moved from Cove to deck 10, have a few questions.............

I really wanted to try a Cove balcony, we had one reserved, however my wife was hesitant based on how low it was and being sorta enclosed in the balcony, maybe getting wet, etc.. So I went to the other extreme, I booked on deck 10!

So, how is deck 10 forward? To high? Ok? If you've stayed on both Cove and deck 10, which would you recommend? I'm just trying to determine if we made the right choice. We can still change though.

Oh, on Panorama. MR cruise (which we've done many, many times)!

Please help! And thanks in advance!

You would have to get some really rough seas to get wet on a cove balcony. Also, if you did get those rough seas your high and forward deck 10 balcony will have your stomach a lot more queasy than your smooth riding cove balcony.

Yes, Coves are a little more enclosed than the regular balconies but that provides privacy and shade.

Being close to the water is awesome.

Get the cove back 🙂

Great decision!  Deck 10 forward are excellent cabins.  Close to the pool, food, and absolutely no noise whatsoever.  That's our favorite deck.  Did not care for the cove.  I personally prefer to be on higher decks.

Except for Guys and Blue Iguana isn't all the food pretty much at the aft of the ship? 🙂

Oh yeah I forgot how quiet it is by the pool area when they are doing that hairy chest contest. LOL

I kid

From purely a balcony standpoint, I agree with those saying Cove.

From a "things to do on the rest of the ship" standpoint, I agree with the previous poster -- Deck 10 is what you want.

If you've never stayed on lido or Panorama decks then you would think that there was noise.  But you can't hear any of that when you're in your cabin.  That it is primarily the only decks we book now unless the ship has a Havana area then we book there.

I'm actually not bothered by noise but it can get crowded and rowdy on the pool deck on sea days.

Had Lido and Cove and prefer Cove.  The balconies are a bit bigger and more leg room.  Love having that extra space to put your drinks as well.  I never felt "enclosed" too much.  We prefer Cove.  We love being down near the water - we never had a wet balcony yet but we are usually mid ship.  We did have aft section cove before as well.  We love the privacy, the shade, and the convenience of being near the MDR and main deck.  We also like being close to the gangway for embarking and disembarking.  Deck 10 is awesome too but just giving you MY preference and reasoning.

FYI, when you book that advertised low priced balcony, it defaults to a cove balcony, basically the lowest class and cheapest balcony. Every other one is an up charge. Cove isn't bad at all but the location is terrible. If you plan to hang out in your cabin and on your balcony a lot then it may be a good deal and a savings. If you plan to "get out there", being closer to the action is better. If you have cheers it's easier to get a drink too. Also using the restroom in your own cabin is nice. Lido is an easy choice for me.

Most of the time, the cove balconies have cost more than Deck 7 and 8 balconies.  We paid $3500 for 3 people in a cove for November and we could have gotten deck 9 for less.  Just depends.  You are right though - depends on where you spend most of your time.  We prefer cove because it is one floor up to the main desk and atrium areas - plus one floor from the MDR so never have to get an elevator for those places.  Never have to wait for an elevator to go up to the Lido or upper decks.  For the Mardi Gras, we are one floor below Grand Central Atrium, and the French Quarter, the theater, shops, and the bars. Two floors below the casino, the club and lounge, and Steakhouse.  Three floors below La Piazza, Summer Landing pools, and Havana Bar.  Was a no brainer for us.

Exactly. I don't spend much time at the main desk, atrium areas and generally only eat at the MDR once per day. Lido for food, drink, bathroom and action. Getting a room near where you hang out makes the most sense.

That used to be the case with the pricing. Now I am seeing them charging more for the coves on many sailings.

You do realize the ship has elevators, right?

Not on Panorama, when I book, coves are always the cheapest.

You do realize people have choices, right? Having to take a elevator up and down several times a day to get food and drinks may not be preferable to some. You sound pretty agitated that anyone dare have a different opinion than you. What a grumpy-grump.

Yep.  A lot of that changes with the new ships.  Most of the action are on Decks 6-8.

OP asked about Panorama, unless you're a kid, decks 6-8 would be of zero interest.

I understand that.  Still, Deck 2 is right there under the main dining rooms, the atrium and bar, two decks below the Liquid Lounge theater and Limelight club - fun shops - Casino and bar - heroes bar - and promenade, and a few floors below the Alchemy Bar, Piano Bar, restaurants, Guys Brewhouse, Ocean Plaza, Havana Bar, coffee shop, etc.  None of those decks are kid-friendly until you get up to Deck 6 on the Panorama.  Again, depends on what the person wants.  If they want to be close to the main pool, than Lido.  If they want to be close to all of the bars, clubs and entertainment, and non-buffet eateries - Cove.  The elevator can get you anywhere though as well.  Decks 7 and 8 are very popular for good reason.  In between almost everything.

I brought up Decks 6-8 for the Mardi Gras and other ships.  I know that is not what the OP is asking but brought it up since location depends on the ship as well.

Popular with people who want to sleep with cabins above and below with no pubic areas overhead/below mostly. I've stayed on 8 and its not bad. Got lido balconies booked for my next two Panorama cruises. For good reasons. 😃

We love then lido deck and try to score it on every cruise.  We are on the lido deck for our cruise on the Mardi Gras.  It's a great location for us.  It's all about personal preference.

Exactly.  Loved the Lido when we had it on the Breeze.  Cove is what we always go for first.  We had the spa balcony and deck on the Liberty and loved it - - the views were great and you can really feel the boat move a lot.  lol  We are not bit Lido deck people since we all dislike buffets so and we don't use the pools onboard because of the drunk adults.  lol

Yep, I normally try to stay on Empress, that way it’s between two decks with cabins. Have had some bad experiences being under lido.
