Favorite excursions

We've been to Cozumel plenty of times through NCL. What is your favorite excursion?

So far We've done

1. Semi sub excursion: It was ok, probably better for children. You don't see too much besides them shooting fish food in the water to get fish near the windows.

2. Island tour: This took us to an organic tequila farm with tastings. Plenty of bumble bees near the tequila if you're allergic. Also, took us to the other side of the island to a beach. Not bad overall.

3. Passion Island: We've done this 3 or 4 times. It is all inclusive,  a short boat ride over. I love it! You can choose from a few pre-made mixed drinks or beer like dos equis included. Also, is a buffet with rice and beans, chicken, guacamole, etc. They have chairs in the sand, tables with umbrellas and chairs, water hammocks, water toys to jump on, volleyball nets, drinking games like 2 people trying to catch an egg and moving farther apart till one group is left. Shopping from locals. Bathrooms were nice and clean.

Then we love the port shopping at punta langosta where NCL docks. Head upstairs in the shopping area and about halfway down from the escalator, past the hooters sign owl is a store on the right which sells many things for $1 usd. Also, try to barter with these people, I've found they're willing to accommodate. I love buying large skulls and will always try to get 2 skulls for a decent price. Also, love going to Tacos & Tequila downtown Cozumel.

Have you done any of these or love any others?

We never do excursions when visiting Cozumel - too easy to do it on your own.  Try the Bar Hop tour to see/visit some funky bars and the east side of the island, or choose your favorite beach club (Sanchos, Nachi, Paradise) or head to the Money Bar for good snorkeling from the shore), or Chank to swim with the dolphins, etc...😎

+1 We also do independent excursions in Cozumel, including all the above.

Other less often mentioned tours that we have also enjoyed photo tour, food tour, cooking with Josefina.

Yes with all due respect those you mentioned are the more "touristy" options. Since you've been many times you could just enjoy seeing different parts of the island on your own by renting a car (recommend ISIS Rentadora). 20+ years ago our favorite beach was Playa Palancar, but with the huge uptick in cruise ships even that has been overrun. With fewer ships it should be much more quiet now though...
I would also suggest getting ideas from residents and frequent visitors on the TripAdvisor Coz forum and other non-cruise forums on out of the way places to stop. Not a lot of area unfortunately, and you may want to consider taking an excursion to RIO Secreto or another afrea on the Yucatan for something really different...
