What to do in Port Canaveral if not taking ship excursion?

Will be in Port Canaveral 1 to 9 PM on Royal Oasis.  Kennedy Space center closes 5PM so feel not worth it to take ship's excursion.  Anything else to do?  Couldn't find private excursions that picks up at the port.  Cabs and Ubers are very expensive.  Any ideas?

Jetty Park. You go by it on your sail in.  There is a nice beach and also a very long jetty that you can walk out on. You can often see dolphin, turtles and manatee from the jetty. There is a small restaurant  there are vendors renting chairs and umbrellas.  We go often, just to walk out on the jetty.

The Kennedy Space Center visitor experience is very nice. Actual rockets, capsules, exhibits, etc. Reasonable people will differ on whether it is worth the price. On our last visit, the bus tours to the launch site were not running.

By the time the OP gets the rental car, it may be 2 pm. With KSC closing at 5 pm, that leaves only 3 hours. IMO, that is not nearly enough time for a visit.

Let's assume you get off the ship at 2pm.

Back by 8:30

Good amount of time, what would you like to do? I think KSC is out of the question. Food? Dinner?

Easiest is a day at the beach, visit RonJon (huge place) and do "the tourist thing"

Anyone like fishing? There's some deep sea fishing boats in the port, look int a 3 hour tour (a 3 hour tour).

Airboat rides is possible, there's a few of those around, check with them and see if they offer rides to their place. They usually also have food like gator and frogs legs

Speaking of which, we did just get a new place called "Cocoa Beach Fish Camp Grill" and the locals are in love....they have your gator, frogs legs and so on as well.

We got a new distillery...nice little small place that makes local rum and vodka. It's in Cape Canaveral (where port is).

Bars abound, if that's a thing for you.

How about a 2-hour cruise on the Indian River Lagoon?

That does look like a good thing to do there.  I was unaware that this existed.  I have taken tours on the Indian River Lagoon further South (in the Fort Pierce area) and enjoyed them.
