Cheers and ordering with 2 cards

Okay, I searched and cannot find anything to answer this. We are considering Cheers for our October cruise.

My husband  and I regularly take turns ordering 2 drinks at the bar when we are lounging at sea so we don't both have to get up and go. If we have Cheers, would we still be able to do this if said person has both S&S cards when they order? Or does each person have to be there to get their own drink?

Sorry if it's been answered before, but for the life of me I guess I cannot enter the right keywords to bring it up!

Sorry, I believe each person has to be there (unless you get a bartender that will bend the rules).  Since a picture of your face comes up to them when you buy, they use this to "verify" the purchaser.

They wouldn't let me get a pop for my husband using his card for bottomless bubbles when he was playing in the casino, so I would guess they are just as strict or worse with the booze.

Others may correct me if I am wrong since I have not had cheers before.  Just guessing based on pop experience.

In general, if you don't frequent a bar, you will both need to be there.

If you frequent a bar and they get to know you, you may find it very easy for one person to order two drinks using both of your cards, and the bartender might ask you to point at them, that's all.

A small tip (say $1 per drink) helps, too, for next time.

I've had it both ways.  It really depends on if the bartender knows/recognizes you.  I would get my wife coffee in the mornings a lot and the barista never minded since we introduced ourselves the first day.  Bars are a little different but if you frequent that bar and get friendly with the bar tenders, they usually let it slide.  We always tip a little extra on the first day too.  #1 rule of cruising is make friends with the bartender

If you use your cheers enough it's possible. If they know you from frequent orders and your wife is in your cabin, it shouldn't be a problem. Some of the runners will even memorize your sign and sail and you can just signal to them (if you have a good crew that is) one or two more. Technically you aren't "suppose to" but it's done frequently if you you roll as a pair.

I'll join the chorus--never had a problem once they knew us, and if you tip, they get to know you real fast.  On Lido, some servers just brought them on a regular schedule.  And on one cruise, the bartender even asked my cruise buddy who went up to get a drink if he could make one for me, too--"What about Mr. _____? doesn't he want one too?"  We always tip a dollar or two with each drink.
