eyelash Posted July 18, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2021 Any way to predict which night of an 8 day cruise will be formal night? (It's an 8-day southbound Voyage of the Glaciers from Whittier, AK to Vancouver BC on the Majestic Princess if that matters).
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted July 18, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2021 This should narrow your days down. Formal nights are usually on sea days and never consecutive.
skynight Posted July 18, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2021 7 nights. Will not be the 1st night nor the last evening, a only sea day. It's a tough call. Could be Glacier Bay day where you are there from 9:15am until 7:30pm, the 2nd could be Juneau or Ketchikan.
Rare Ombud Posted July 18, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2021 My guess: Anchorage -> not on embarkation day Hubbard Glacier until 8pm -> no Glacier Bay National Park until 7pm -> probably Skagway until 8:30 -> no Juneau until 4pm -> yes Ketchikan until 6pm -> no Sea Day -> no bc next day you disembark Vancouver -> bye bye
travelbuds Posted July 21, 2021 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2021 On a past Island Princess SB cruise, our formal nights were Hubbard Glacier and Juneau.

RRFan Posted July 24, 2021 #7 Share Posted July 24, 2021 It's usually the first sea day and the other one depends upon the times in port. It is NOT always a sea day. On AK cruises, the day before you disembark is a sea day and it is never that day. We always joked that was because that didn't give people enough time to buy those last formal portraits. If the last port day sail away time is 5 or earlier, it'll be that day. If not, it'll probably be a "scenic cruising" day.
EDVM96 Posted July 24, 2021 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2021 (edited) The Voyage of the Glaciers Southbound formal nights are normally: 1. Yakutat Bay (Hubbard Glacier) 2. Juneau Edited July 24, 2021 by EDVM96
Piperpals Posted July 24, 2021 #9 Share Posted July 24, 2021 Usually the second night which is a sea day and will be the captains welcome event. The second one may depend on the itinerary but most likely second last night.
