Nope. Dec 6 appears to be the one and only continental US cruise of the Viva. After that, she goes to San Juan and never returns to the continental US (at least the current advertised schedules through the end of 2025).

From Nov 27-Dec 6 will be PR/Media/TA cruise(s) (Prima did one to Halifax) and then a repositioning cruise from NYC to Miami.

It doesn't quite look like there will be time for a repositioning cruise from NYC to Miami. It'll very highly likely be a 4 day from NYC (invite only) and then 2 days down to Miami (without ant guests) and then two 2/3 day Inaugurals from Miami to island and back, plus a night onboard for shoreside employees.

Thanks for the sanity check on my observation.  Much appreciated.  I've booked that week.  Will @BirdTravelsbe on that week?  We know how the Bird seems to enjoy inaugurals.

The Bird has not decided on Viva yet. The Birds loves a good inaugural. The Birds have been on the "maiden" voyages of all of the BA and BA+ ships (maiden = first revenue voyage after christening), except the Joy. We were supposed to be on the first US voyage of the Joy to Alaska, but NCL slipped it a week for more PR cruises and the new date conflicted with a RCCL cruise we had booked. The Birds were on the "maiden" voyage of the Symphony of the Seas; and the maiden/very first revenue voyage of the Wonder of the Seas earlier this year. The Birds were on the first post-pandemic North American restart cruise for both NCL (Encore out of Seattle) and Royal Caribbean (Adventure of the Seas out of Nassau)... which were totally different experiences.

Yeah.. by "repositioning" I meant a 2-day dead head NYC to MIA. Since NCL is going through the effort of brining the ship into NYC, I figured the 27th is a write off disembarking the TA followed by a couple of days in NYC followed by a Canadian PR cruise is about all the time they had. Kinda like the Prima.

It looks like Viva will be done earlier than they anticipated as there are now sailings as of August 10th, which brings up the inaugural sailing by two weeks!

Without looking at the NCL site (too many crises at the office today!), are those "public" sailings, or are they of the "lets send out the TAs and VIPs on a pre-cruise cruise" variety?

They're publicly available sailings. A 9-night from Venice to Lisbon on August 10th and a 7-night from Lisbon to Rome on August 19th.

Thanks.  As someone who's been on pins and needles after the last set of cancelations (we're on the 9/13/23 sailing), I am glad to hear this!

We are on the sailing before you, so happy that it'll be done and some of the kinks can be worked out before our voyage.

We booked the Viva TA (16-27 Nov 2023, 11 days from Lisbon to New York) back in September. And now this cruise has disappeared from NCL.com - I saw it last week but it disappeared around mid-last week.

mmmmm .... wonder why ..... maybe they're changing the itinerary???

@bluesea777 If the TA does get changed to a more northern path, say starting from Southampton or Amsterdam then you can count me out, but as we all know the NCL site gets glitchy at times.

Have a Merry Christmas

Jim

Yeah, that also counts us out! We have been on several TAs and prefer the southern ones.

Hmmm, we’re on that one, too, and have never done a TA. It still shows in our app, but you’re right, nothing online.

No way, they would wait until embarkation day and hand out a flyer at checkin.

That's what they did on the Prima's first voyage from New York. The crew knew a few days in advance, but the passengers were notified at check in that the itinerary was changed.

Showing up in Bermuda at 5:30 at night, closing the shops and casino, is pretty useless.

My comment was based on what happened to us on the Gem Thanksgiving cruise 2012.  Concierge handed out itinerary changes when we were in the Haven terminal waiting area.  Charleston SC was dropped and an overnight added in Port Canaveral.  Not my choice to stop there to begin with, then the Thanksgiving day GSC was cancelled and we left right away.  Would have been better to stay in the warmer area of GSC just to enjoy the warm weather,  sigh

Similar situation occured to me.  NCL Sun, June 2016.  Few days prior to boarding in Seaward, Alaska, I read comments that Skagway stop was cancelled. It appears that people that booked with a Travel agent were informed of the change but no one else received an email about that.  Sure enough, at the time of check-in in Seaward, I was given a flyer informing us about the change.  I was fortunate that I was still within my 48 hours deadline to cancel the private tour booked for Skagway.  As I never heard about similar situations since 2016,  I assumed that NCL had improved their communications to inform passengers about changes to the cruise.  As for cancelling a cruise once already on the ship, no needs to repeat what happened to lots of us in March 2020 due to the covid shutdown.
