Carnival stock and onboard credit! :(

Just FYI to anyone this applies to: apparently shareholder benefits don’t apply to anyone cruising “on a reduced rate or complimentary basis.” I wasn’t aware of this, so I’m passing it along.

We bought our 100 shares at the start of the pandemic, knowing they would grow when cruising resumed. And we’re cruising on one of the recent $25 fares.

I’m not angry or anything, but it would’ve been nice.

That information is located in the fine print of the benefit statement.

i've always got it... we even got it on our free cruise with princess.   now our free and reduced rates are always from the casino so maybe thats different.   as a matter of fact we just got ours for mardi gras cruise that is very reduced (again through casino).

Yes. But I’d missed seeing it. So I’m posting here for the benefit of any other who may also have missed it.

Yeah, but did you try to submit it? Pretty sure others have had success. Submit the form and you may be surprised.

I've always received it in the past on reduced priced cruises as I almost always sail on a casino rate.....but this time, denied.  I was a bit surprised, but I guess with Carnival leaking money I totally understand.  It is written in the fine print so I guess they are finally holding to their policy.

I cant complain though as I got a great rate anyway.

My most recent shareholder credit request was also denied.  It was not a casino rate, or a VIFP special offer, but just on the main web site available to anyone. Carnival has recently posted some close-in bookings that offered a break to solo passengers that didn't result in a 200% fare.  They deem this as a discounted rate, and therefore not eligible for shareholder benefit.

It is what it is.

Us too. We got a good rate so we can not complain but it would have been nice. It goes back to them anyways as it has to be used on board.  Lesson learned. We also sail Princess and was able to put credit it on a 3 day in November.

I submitted and received a denial email. Should I submit again?

No, I wasn't sure if you already tried or just read the fine print. Have a great cruise. We'll finally be cruising again in Dec.

New to Carnival.  How can you tell when the Shareholder request has been approved or not?  How can you view the OBC on the cruise planner?  I can't seem to locate any reference to it and I did not receive any email about our shareholder request - but I actually mailed the request in the old fashioned way.

Thanks

Don

sometimes it shows up on cruise planner.. (hang on going to go check ours for 2 weeks from now), it doesn't show on our current planner for the shareholder credits.

my wife got an email.

for others that are having issues i wonder if faxing or emailing makes a difference?   i've always emailed ours.

After getting approved, you should get an email like the picture on the left. Expect the email from guestadmin@carnival.com. Unfortunately, to check if it has been applied, you have to wait until after you have checked-in for the cruise (currently 2 weeks before sail date) to be able to view the Invoice which has the breakdown of itemized charges (picture on the right).

I am surprised to hear about all the denials.  We had and have free balcony casino offers, one for our 9/12 Pride sailing and one coming up, 10/24 Pride sailing.  Our application was approved and I received the same email that CruisingFromLA received, about a week after emailing the application.  I was able to see the Onboard Credit before checking in for the 9/12 cruise, but not until check-in for the 10/24 cruise.  They also send an email within 24 hours or so after I emailed the applications just saying they received it and are working on it.  I wonder why some applications for reduced fares/casino offers are being approved and others not.  I just double-checked and the $100 is still there, just as CruisingFromLA showed above.

Thanks to those who replied with info on how to see the OBC.  Monday will be 2 weeks out so we will do our check-in and then see if it shows up.

What is the email (for future use) for sending in the request?  I know and have used the Princess email for the shareholder, but the form I keep on file just has the postal addresses of the various CCL brands.

Thanks again,

Don

Enter your booking number where the XXX is Copy and paste on Google. Then when you get to Carnivals web site Past it at the top and click on it again. You will find everything on that page. Look for it.

That is disappointing.  We have 2 casino rate cruises booked in the near future (one is the same $25 one referenced) and I just went back through emails to confirm we did get our shareholder benefit applied to both.  I wonder why the inconsistency.😕

I emailed them back and asked.

We did  apply some onboard credits in the beginning while we waited for instructions form corporate. We are denying reduced rates and hope there is more consistency in the future.  Thank you for your understanding.”
