DW and I cruised on the Mardi Gras on10/9-16/2021.

We had an 11:30-12:00 check in  time scheduled and our shuttle was a little late arriving at the terminal (~ 5 minutes).

By the time we walked over to the ramps there was one little lady trying to get everyone into the proper arrival lanes but no one  could hear her and she wound up letting the 1:00-1:30 group go up ahead of others who had earlier arrival times.

Needless to say this did not go over well and, finally, a Supervisor came down and helped straighten things out.

Once we got upstairs into the actual terminal there was a long, serpentine roped off line but it moved pretty rapidly and we were on the ship soon thereafter.

Disembarkation went very smoothly compared to the near disaster on embarkation.

Wow...Carnival doesn't care what your arrival time is. They let you smash into the terminal any time from what I am told. There are countless stories here where people missed their boarding group with a 10:30 arrival and A04 boarding group because there were tons of people with 1PM arrival windows there at 10AM.

So, how ugly was this really going to get? It would have been funny to see it come to blows and people getting hauled off. If it wasn't getting that bad, then it was nothing.

Booking such a large ship as the Mardi Gras, one must expect to have Patience simply because of the number of fellow guests that one is going to encounter.

The Mardi Gras only sailed at ~65% on 10/9, the size of the crowd wasn’t that much of a factor—poor crowd control/management was.

Many otherwise reasonable folks seem to leave common sense behind when they travel.

you have a numbered seat, a room, etc. The train, ship, concert won't leave you on the dock. chill!

It most certainly will.  Watch 2 couples cry and beg to be allowed on the 8/10 sailing of the Miracle but boarding finished 30 minutes before they arrived.  This is the only terminal that I have been in where you can see late comers.

Absolutely correct, of course.  My comment was in regard to those folks with 1.30 boarding times who show up and try to push aboard at noon.

I have several short videos of people running to a ship which is already casting off at some intermediate port.

It is always sad to see something like this happen.  But, it is the responsibility of the guest to arrive during the specified time for embarkation.  Why must that be done?  The ship's Purser must transmit to the Federal agency that requires the ship's final manifest before sailing.  The manifest has to then be screened one more time and approval given for the ship to sail.  That takes time and, if the ship wants to sail close to the published time, there has to be a cut-off time for all to be aboard.

The terminal people had already left and locked the doors
